A Study of Users on Korean Learning Web Site

The purpose of this study is to observe the usage of Korean learning websites in order to further the analysis of its users and the prevalence of the Korean language. The focus of this study was 'TalkToMeInKorean' and the site’s user base. The website was chosen because it ranks its students between nine levels, providing level-based content and teaching material.
An English survey was posted on TalkToMeInKorean from March 18th to 21st of 2015. Through 1,400 completed forms, I was able to gather information on the motivation for learning, user experience and student study habits and so on.
To examine the user activity, the following questions were proposed:
1. Who are the main users of TalkToMeInKorean?
2. Why do users study Korean through TalkToMeInKorean?
3. What is the correlation between users of TalkToMeInKorean and their Korean proficiency?
The information collected were processed into relevant statistics.
Based on the survey data and the data analysis, the study suggests goals to advance online Korean education and make it easier to learn in Korean-learning websites : active communication between users, sustained content management, grammar content developing, suitable content for users’ characteristic and approach towards Korean education in the global market.
The study regards presentation of users in Korean learning websites as useful and proposes ways for building efficient websites in order to provide quality material and content.
