The study on curriculum development as re-education of teachers of Korean abroad

The purpose of this research is to develop re-educational process to cultivate professionalism of teachers in Korean school, a main institution of overseas Korean education.
Chapter 1 showed necessities and purposes of re-educational process of overseas teachers in Korean schools and examined precedent studies related to education of Korean teachers and overseas Korean education. Studies on Korean teachers' education have been continuously conducted, but there is few discussions about education of oversea Korean teachers. Studies on Korean education of Korean school require educational contents designed to teachers' supply and demand, professionalism and actual field.
Chapter 2 arranged definition and concept of teachers' education. It examined qualifications of linguistic teachers and divided qualifications of Korean teachers into ‘knowledge qualifications, educational skill qualifications, education qualifications and culture qualifications'. For the contents of teachers' education, ‘subject knowledge, education technology, attitude and recognition and culture capabilities’ were set. Also, it showed that 're-education' includes education of cultivation.
Chapter 3 analyzed educational training of overseas Korean teachers based on 'contents of teachers' education' of Chapter 2. It could examine customized subjects for Korean school teachers and regional characteristics by local history through the analysis on domestic training and actual field's training. On the other hand, subjects for overseas Korean teachers were children related education in online training.
Chapter 4 conducted an analysis on the demands of Korean school teachers, the subject of re-educational process of overseas teachers in Korean schools. As a result, it gave implications that regional customized teacher education is required to the re-educational process of overseas teachers in Korean schools, it should be organized by selective curricula and it should include education for characteristics of overseas learners.
Chapter 5 developed re-educational process of overseas teachers in Korean schools based on the analysis on frame and demands of curricula suggested before. First of all, the theory of development was shown and basic curricula and selective curricula were divided into each area and detailed subjects and organized in detail. In basic curricula, subject knowledge is learned so as to cultivate knowledge qualifications of teachers and educational technologies are learned so as to possess educational technology qualifications. Also, subjects for attitude and recognition are arranged so as to cultivate education qualifications. On the other hand, selective curricula can be selected by teachers according to the educational situation of actual field and cultivate teachers' culture qualifications.
This thesis intended to develop re-educational process of overseas teachers in Korea school through the existing studies and demand analysis for effective studying of overseas learners and it's significant to analyze direct demands of teachers of oversea Korean schools which are the subject of curricula. Based on this study, more various and developmental discussions about overseas learners and overseas teachers in Korean schools should be conducted in the future.
