The purpose of this study was the mutual organic improvement in the linguistic aspect and the emotional aspect in children from multi-cultural families starting from what a cause of school life maladjustment in children from multi-cultural families includes a verbal problem and an emotional problem. Many researches have so far suggested a language education plan for the language development in children from multi-cultural families and pointed out a problem of emotional anxiety in children from multi-cultural families. However, it is the real situation of failing to be arranged a plan for developing this together despite what two elements are repeating a vicious circle of making school life difficult due to being influenced reciprocally. Accordingly, the aim was to develop a game that will mutually develop the linguistic aspect and the emotional aspect.
As a tool for the mutual organic improvement in the linguistic aspect and the emotional aspect, a board game was chosen. An educational value of board game was clarified. The board game has interaction as a basic element, thereby being effective for emotional development and enhancing sociality. In addition, it has influence upon the language development in the communication process, thereby contributing greatly even to the learning-based function and have effect even on curing children with special disabilities. Diverse functions of the board game was considered to have positive influence upon the verbal development and the emotional development in children from multi-cultural families.
Chapter 1 was clarified the objective of this study and was emphasized the need to develop board game by examining a previous research. And research contents and method were briefly described.
Chapter 2 was closely examined by analyzing the existing previous researches as for the problems about the linguistic aspect and the emotional aspect that can be said to be a direct cause for school life mal adjustment in children from multi-cultural families, based on the results of many researches that had been released in the meantime. And it figured out a basic concept and a characteristic on board game and clarified the effect and the educational value of utilizing board game, thereby having discussed about effectiveness of board game.
Chapter 3 was arranged the specific standard of developing a game by implementing the principle of developing board game in consideration of a board-game characteristic, an educational feature, and an emotional characteristic. The scope of subjects who will use board game was decided. A game available for the transformation in the learning vocabulary education was selected. Also, the vocabulary category in line with a goal of each game was established after assigning a game, which was selected by having samples as the learning vocabularies by major curricular subject and by theme that were presented in the Korean language curriculum. A game was actually developed by selecting one of the deployed games.
