This study aims to search for the elements and plans of Korean culture education using the Pansori-descent novel text. First of all, this investigate the status of culture education and its importance. To be formed and used of language is only possible within the country's culture. The importance of culture stand out in the situation of communication. The foreigners with fluent Korean but not accompanied by Korean culture education are not easy to communicate with others in Korean due to the ignorance of Korean cultural background. Moreover, the culture education is essential to reduce the cultural shock of foreign learners. However, most of current Korean language educations are focusing on the skills such as speaking, listening, reading, writing and so on. To solve these kinds of problems and implement the proper Korean culture education, the contents of Korean culture education have to be selected to meet the principles and clear targets.
Therefore, this established the principles of contents selection of Korean culture education, and consequently the targets and contents were selected according to their contents. Furthermore, Pansori-descent novel texts as culture education texts were selected complying with the principles and targets of contents selection of Korean culture education to fill up the absence of culture education, and the education elements were suggested. In view of situation that people with hero characteristics of Pansori-descent novel texts are being called by hero names as idiomatic expressions, the texts seem to be embedded profoundly in the consciousness of Koreans until now. Moreover, since any Korean has heard these stories constantly from childhood, which the cultural thoughts of Koreans are inherent much in them, these literary works are very useful to direct both past and current Korean cultures. Especially, as various features of human relationships are inherent, they are proper texts to educate the cultures relevant to human relationships. This suggested culture education elements and plans using the four Pansori-descent novel texts including <Simcheongjeon>, <Chunhyangjeon>, <Heungbujeon> and <Onggojipcheon> diachronically and synchronically.
Firstly, as for <Simcheongjeon>, the culture element of father-daughter relationship of this work was selected as a culture education content through comparing with the drama <The return of Simcheong>. Consequently, the elements of Korean culture education such as filial piety, father-daughter relationship, marital relationship, family life and so on, were identified. Secondly, regarding <Chunhyangjeon>, the culture element of love relationship of this work was selected as a culture education content through comparing with the drama <Kwaegeol- Chunhyang>. Consequently, the elements of Korean culture education such as fidelity, women's portrayal, social aspect and so on, were identified. Thirdly, as for <Heungbujeon>, the culture element of sibling relationship of this work was selected as a culture education content through comparing with Mongolian fable <a maiden halving a gourd>, and the elements of Korean language culture education such as comeuppance, encouraging good and punishing evil, brotherly love, social aspect and so on, were identified. Lastly, regarding <Onggojipcheon>, the culture element of neighborship of this work was selected as a culture education content through comparing with Manchurian tale <Buddha guides an ill-tempered old man>, and the elements of Korean language culture education such as community spirit, social consciousness for sharing, social donation culture, religious ceremony and so on, were identified.
It is hoped that further studies regarding detailed and various suggestions of diverse teaching-learning plans would be conducted.
