The purpose of this dissertation is to clarify the corresponding relation between meaning functions of locative case markers in the Korean and Azerbaijani language. Firstly, I explain the meaning functions of the locative case markers in both languages, dividing them into location related meaning function and non-location related meaning function. I will proceed to examine these meaning functions through related examples in detail. This dissertation comprises of 4 chapters, including Chapter 1 Introduction. In Chapter 2 I present an overall view of locative case markers in the Korean and Azerbaijani language prior to the in-depth study that follows. In addition, I summarize Azerbaijani grammar, as well as the case systems of both languages in general. I examine the similarities and differences pertaining to the properties of grammatical case markers in the Korean and Azerbaijani language. Based on the meaning functions covered in Chapter 2, I analyze and summarize meaning functions of locative case markers in the Korean language, which correspond to grammatical case markers of the Azerbaijani language. More specifically, the meaning functions of case markers such as ‘e’, ‘eso’ and ‘ro’ will be examined in contrast with the Azerbaijani language. First of all, I explain how both location related and non-location meaning functions of locative case markers in the Korean language correspond to the Azerbaijani language. Moreover, as in the case whereby more than two grammatical case markers have the same meaning functions in the Korean language, I will examine how this is expressed in the Azerbaijani language, covering the characteristics displayed in such a corresponding relation. With this as a basis, corresponding relation of location related meaning functions, which are the main point of locative case and sub-meaning functions of locative case in two languages. Chapter 5 contains the conclusions of the study.
