As geographic neighbors, As both Korea and Japan through cultural exchanges and mass-media continue to increase their exchanges, notice is being given out that some people intend to stamp out friendship between both nation's people.
However, in 2014 I think that Korean-Japanese relations have entered into a dark tunnel. I'm not sure what has gone wrong in these difficult circumstances in the 50 years following renormalization of diplomatic relations, but now through a research survey targeted at high school students in both countries, I would like to contribute in the future to improving the current state of Korean Japanese relations.
By targeting high school students in both countries, we can investigate the present friction and conflict in Korean-Japanese relations and the ranking of Japanese language in Korea. I would like to investigate how to improve relations between both countries, while at the same time studying a Japanese language curriculum with it as my second language.
My thesis would concretely be structured through this method.
1. In the introduction, I will look at the conducted Korean-Japanese relations survey, researching the objectives of the education curriculum and proposing the necessity and concreteness of this research method.
2. Previous research on Korean-Japanese relations and what position Japanese language held in Korea, along with the present theoretical background on these topics will be arranged. This study intends to investigate Korea and Japan's relations, through the centrality of cultural exchange relations, which opened both country's cultures and briefly explain about the present anti-Korean sentiments which have emerged in Japan.
3. Analyze the results of previous surveys and researching on large influences in Japanese-Korean relations and explaining about the characteristics of cultural exchanges. Above all, the origins of Hallyu (the Korea Wave), the Japan Wave and investigate and explain about the present language preferences for the Korea and Japan waves.
4. Analyze high school student preferences and interests in both countries through an analysis of the survey results. Both countries high school students and their talents will serve an important role as the cornerstone of future Korean-Japanese relations and it is especially important to develop correct understanding and values in both countries.
5. In the conclusion, the contents of the present research will be arranged and recommendations for future studies of Korean-Japanese relations will be recommended and will proceed to propose on how to advance a second foreign language education.
This research will investigate Korean and Japanese high school student interests and preferences in both countries and through researching about the existence of differences in the awareness of high school students in both countries, the objective of improving both country's relations can be advanced through conflict resolution and advancing mutual understanding. Whether or not high school students in both countries are interested or influenced by the Anti-Japan sentiment in Korea and Anti-Korean sentiment in Japan will be investigated and the foundation of this research going forward will be the opportunity to provide recommendations on the direction of the second foreign language education. Going forward, to develop education tailored to student's abilities and the right paths requires preparing a choice-based system with English, Chinese, Japanese, etc. for second foreign language classes in this intensifying global era and I believe it is necessary to make efforts to adjust our policies in the development of human resources.
