This thesis aims to discuss similarities and differences among the pronouns in Korean and Tajik language as conducting an analysis on those pronouns found in the two languages.
Basically, the role of the pronouns in Korean is to replace nouns, and that is exactly the same feature which is found even in the pronouns in Tajik language. In the light of that, this thesis analyzed those pronouns in Korean as well as Tajik language in relation to the demonstrative functions.
Add to that, the study also needs to carry out this comparative linguistic research in that not a single comparative analysis of Tajik language and Korean has been conducted so far. Such a careful comparative research will be needed for every aspect and yet, for a starter, the study has decided to carry out the comparative analysis on the pronouns but nothing else for those reasons presented as follows. First of all, it is the pronouns that are always taught and learned at the very first stage of the second language acquisition of the learners before the learners' attempt to communicate in this new language. Second, the learners make a great number of errors right in relation to the expressions with the pronouns applied.
In this study, the most proper uses of the pronouns in Korean and Tajik language were investigated, and the personal pronouns and the impersonal pronouns in the both languages was compared to each other. The findings of the study will help the Tajik learners efficiently recognize the differences and the similarities among the pronouns in Korean and their mother tongue as they make it more convenient for the learners to acquire the pronouns in Korean.
In Chapter 1, the purpose of the thesis was described, and both the research subject and method were defined. In addition, any previous researches relevant to this thesis also introduced, and at the end of the chapter, we will look into Tajik language.
In Chapter 2 examined the personal pronouns. To begin with, the study was categorized as the personal pronouns into the regular pronouns and the special pronouns before getting into an analysis on those pronouns. Here, the study was divided as the regular pronouns into the first, the second and the third person pronouns as grouping the special pronouns into the interrogative, the reflexive, the indefinite (부정칭) and the non-designated (미지칭) pronouns. In this chapter, the study explained how the pronouns in Korean and Tajik language are being categorized as well as the features of those pronouns.
In Chapter 3, the study focused on the demonstrative pronouns and come up with the differences and the similarities by comparing the material pronouns and the location pronouns in Korean to those material pronouns in Tajik language. In the next step, the study looked at the defining pronouns observed only in Tajik language.
Chapter 4, the systems of the pronouns in Korean and Tajik language were divided into the singular forms, the plural forms, and the discourse situations and then, investigated how those pronouns are used in each of those linguistic systems.
In Chapter 5, the study presented a brief summary on what has been discussed in each chapter so far as proposing possible topics for any following researches. As already mentioned in the beginning of this study, more researches need to be conducted in order to help foreigners learn both the pronoun systems of Korean and Korean grammar even more conveniently.
