The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the similarities and difference between the Korean and Chinese about honorific addresses. This five-chapter thesis, adopting the methodology of comparative linguistics, presents a comparative study of honorific addresses in Korean and Chinese Languages.
The first chapter offers a brief introduction of the research subject, goal, and methodology, as well as a literary review of previous studies and findings in this field.
The second chapter focuses on the author first classifies honorific addresses in Chinese and Korean Languages respectively, and then expresses the principles and characters of classification.
In the third chapter identifies grammatical contrasts between Chinese and Korean honorific addresses. Chinese speakers realize honorific addresses through one's attitude in the tone of voice, which do not occur in Korean.
The forth chapter explores the similarities and difference of honorific addresses in Korean and Chinese depending on lexical variations.
Chapter 5 is about the content of the learning programs of honorific expression in korean, which at first instructed the educational goals, then cited applicable model for education programs, and finally proposed detailed instruction method for teaching.
In conclusion, this s summarized the contents of the above studies and presented the usage inadequacies of the thesis in practice with the hpes that more researchers would compare the honorific expression in Korean with that in other language besides Chinese so as to get better results.
