The purpose of this study is to examine the Improvement of Prosody Disposition through the Chant & Song Program for the Cochlear Implant Children.
The problems of this study are,
First, how does prosody training using chant affect the prosody enhancement of cochlear implant children?
Second, how does prosody training using song affect the prosody enhancement of cochlear implant children?
Third, how does prosody training using chant and song affect the prosody enhancement of cochlear implant children?
Fourth, does prosody training using chant and song make difference among sentence patterns (declarative sentence, interrogative sentence and imperative sentence) according to acoustic variables when cochlear implant children speak naturally?
Fifth, does prosody training using chant and song make difference among acoustic variables according to sentence patterns (declarative sentence, interrogative sentence and imperative sentence) when cochlear implant childrenspeaknaturally?
This study has been designed based on ‘Experimental design method’ and it is consisted of program application (beforehand) and inspection (afterward). Objects of this study are 5 cochlear implant children who have problems on prosody. 8 times of weekly program which is consisted of group study (60 minutes) and parent consultation (15 minutes) have been applied. Prosody training program was devised by the researcher of this study referencing chants and songs which are used for 5-touch. It has been analyzed using ‘praat’. One-way ANOVA and Kruskal-wallis and t-test has been conducted for statistical analysis
The results are the following:
First, as a result of training using chant, there is meaningful difference on stress and pitch among sentential final two world dependent variables investigated on chants Meaningful difference is observed on only stress and pitch among initial syllable dependent variables. At the position of sentential final two world and initial syllable, pitch value has been ascended and stress value has been slightly descended.
Second, as a result of training using song, there is meaningful difference on only pitch among of sentential final two world dependent variables investigated on songs. Meaningful difference is observed on stress and pitch among initial syllable dependent variables. Both stress and pitch have been ascended.
Third, as a result of training using chant and song, there is meaningful difference on stress and pitch among of sentential final two world dependent variables investigated on chant and song. Just pitch has meaningful difference among initial syllable dependent variables.
Stress value has been a little bit descended and pitch value has been ascended at the sentential final and initial syllable position both.
Fourth, as a result of difference investigation according to sound variables among sentence patterns (declarative sentence, interrogative sentence and imperative sentence), it has been confirmed that the sound variables (mA leaning, Fo leaning and Q-tone leaning) which indicates difference among sentence patterns were increased after the training.
Fifth, as a result of investigation as to sound variables difference according to sentence patterns (declarative sentence, interrogative sentence and imperative sentence), meaningful difference has not been observed on declarative sentence and interrogative sentence before and after the training. On imperative sentences, speaking speed has meaningful difference among dependent variables which are investigated from overall sentence. Meaningful difference is observed on pitch among dependent variables investigated from initial syllable.
