This thesis mainly discusses rhetoric that make use of the aspect in specific time. In pop music, it is important that lyrics combined with melody covey directly the creator's feeling and intentions and it aroused sympathy between composer and audiences. Lyrics are novel. Actually, it is not part of literature but it gives feeling to audiences. Different expression can cause various change even the expressions are same things.
Rhetoric has a great important role in the creation of an expression. Rhetoric in mother language divides into a figure of speech, emphasis, variation. In this thesis, I study and analyze t he expression that use of rhetoric in lyrics and arrange the result before 1990's, 1990's and 2000's. Variation is mainly used in pop music and antithesis, inversion and interrogative are used in order. This is because the melody with the structure of a sentence gives the most suitable meaning to audiences as mentioned above.
According to this study about rhetoric, I found that use of language methodology is one of the most creativity in pop music. Especially, it needs to use of rhetoric in song form melody motive development. The origin purpose of this study was about the changes of rhetoric in lyrics of the times and the variation in genre but the line of genre is not well-defined so it is almost impossible to get result from it. The change of the times in pop music is definite the objective standard and I drew the result.
I hope that this thesis helps the studying about the use of rhetoric and reminds the importance of language in pop music, so composition of the variation in times and the use of rhetoric in audience's mood make best use in the field and expand the research in the future. And also it would be my great pleasure if many people who are composers and lyricist or hoping to be an composer or a lyricist understand the creation melody and lyrics in pop music and improve the use of rhetoric in creation music and attain completeness of artistic achievement in pop music.
