This is a study with the greetings as the center, to find a teaching method of Korean listening and speaking suitable for the foreigners through the flexible utilization of the Korean Drama.
Since 'Yonsei University Korean Institute' established in 1959, the education of teaching Korean for the foreigners has developed for more than 50 years. During this period, along with the raise of South Korea's international status, as well as the influences of Korean Wave such as Korean drama, movies and Korean KPOP songs, South Korea is ushering in the era of glottalization. Especially in the twenty years after China and South Korea established diplomatic relations friendly, China and Korea's economies, cultures and other aspects have been developed. Scholars who like the South Korean culture, learning Korean and going to South Korean for further study have gradually increased.
Time in progress, people are in more practical pursuit of the method of learning Korean. They are no longer satisfied with the simple exam-oriented education of grammar, but focus more on the education of exchanges and communication between people, which is closer to real life. And greetings, often as the opening words, play an important role in the communication with people. However, due to inherent limitations of Korean textbooks, the content of greetings is relatively basic and simple comparing with the content used in real life.
In the multicultural era, the image media which can meet both visual and auditory needs of learners has become everyone's favorite. Among these, the popular Korean drama become one of the best. The theme of Korean drama has a diversified development from the family, love to the culture, work and politics and so on. Dozens of drama produced every year provide a good platform for foreign learners to experience Korea's life and culture. Therefore, Korean drama have become very good accessory materials for teaching Korean for the foreigners.
The research purpose of this is with the greetings as the center, to find a teaching method of Korean listening and speaking suitable for the foreigners through the flexible utilization of the Korean drama. A brief overview of thesis contents is given as follows. Chapter 1 and 2, from a theoretical point of view, put forward a classification benchmark closer to the learners through the analysis of the research findings on the greetings in Korean of leading scholars and writers, and then based on this, collate and sum up the relevant contents of several representative Korean textbooks, preparing for the following study of educational methods. On the other hand, it puts forward the point of this by analyzing the educational role of image media playing in the aspects of Korean listening and speaking field and the value of flexible application from five aspects such as the point of view of the learners, learning content, grammar, flexible use of language, and cultural education.
Chapter 3 and 4 are the core content of this . First, in Chapter 3, selecting one South Korean drama respectively from the family ,school plays and workplays, it sums up the greetings inthem, and has a comparative analys is with those in Korean text books. Then it concludes the problems and deficiencies of this part in the existing textbooks, as well as the feasibility and advantages of teaching through Korean drama. Korean drama not only provide a medium for the learners to experience the life in Korea directly, but also provide diversified environment support for the learners to deepen the learning content. Students learn the basic knowledge from the textbooks, and then get interest in learning from their favorite Korean drama, so as to deepen the knowledge they have learnt. It will definitely play a positive role in teaching. Chapter 4, based on the above, provides specific educational methods for Korean primary learners and intermediate learners at different stages as objects respectively and proposes the expected results. Chapter 5, the concluding part, summarizes the contents above. Please scholars correct the inadequacies of this .
The author hopes that this can be helpful for foreign learners and educators in learning Korean. The educational methods put forward in this can play an active role in learning and understanding the greetings, enhancing the efficiency and capacity of students learning Korean in teaching and learning, and play a good role in the process of the friendly exchanges between China and South Korea in the future.
