With the rapid development of Korean society, economy and culture, more and more people become interested in Korea. At the same time, visitors to Korea increase sharply in order to learn language and culture of Korea. Among the visitors, the foreign students are the distinct representatives who come Korea to further taste the culture of Korea, not only to learn Korean.
In order to sharpen their understanding to Korea, especially those with advanced Korean levels, the colorful and profound education of Korean is essential. Then literary education is necessary. However, the content of literature education has not been systemized and some parts are not abundant. Generally, professors choose some literature works based on their preference, then it arouses the challenge of content choosing, some too broad, some divorced from reality, and some unconforming with the requirements of the students. Therefore, the study to literary and educational programs counts much. With such motivation and purpose, I start the research.
The research of education scheme aims mainly at learners with senior Korean level. Contents of the scheme focuse on Korean language and culture education. Considering different language levels and learning interests, the education scheme first starts from the most fundamental language learning, then extends to understanding of articles. Language learning, literature learning and culture learning are well merged and complemented through the whole .
The education scheme can be divided into five stages, early stage, the second one, the third one, the fourth one and the fifth one. These five stages will be finished in four class-hours. Learners will understand works deeply in the first class-hour (60 minutes). Obscure words and phrases will be interpreted here. Simultaneously, their imagination can be developed adequately by their discussion of questions. By learning of historical background and cultural background, learners will deeply comprehend the works.
The second class-hour (60 minutes) is literature education. The fundamental factors of a novel like time, location, plot, optical angle and characters will be explained in detail to learners. By analysing the action and psychology of protagonist, themes of works could be understood. The scheme chooses two works for comparison rearch, finding out their similarity and differences. Students’ imagination can be fully developed by discussion. Besides, it can help learners set up the correct outlook on life .
By the third class-hour(60minutes), we learn the male chauvinism culture and wine culture, and learners have a further comprehending to Korean culture.
In the last class-hour (60 minutes), drama play will be carried out in the class, which can enhance learners’ interest and passion, and deepen the impression to this work. Writing practice can make them realize what exactly they have learnt after we complete the works, and lead them to think deeply how to adopt a correct attitude towards to their spouse when they married.
By educating and learning Korean modern novels, I believe, learners with Advanced Korean level can make deeper understanding of Korean culture and life style and thinking method, in which the significance of the research lies. We are looking forward to a much more improved and luxuriant scheme in novel education research, which can help Korean learners study easily with great interests.
