As Uzbek learners of Korean language have continually increased, the number of Uzbek international students who come to Korea for studies has relatively grown as well. However, despite


the fact that Uzbek students hardly study and capably know the meaning of Korean address terms in real life, difficulties such as the incorrect choice of address terms and the inappropriate usage of address terms in their actual social life are being recognizably encountered. Hence, considering these issues of international students in using the address terms and reference terms in actual life encourages this study. The purpose of this study is to show comparative and contrastive analysis on the similarities and differences of address terms and reference terms between Korean language and Uzbek language and to further identify its social factors. In this way, Uzbek learners can accurately recognize the Korean kinship and non-kinship address terms so as to determine as well the correct choices and proper usages of Korean address terms and reference terms in practical life.
In Chapter 1, the purpose and the need of this study are revealed. The status on inadequate sources of research results related-topics on Korean address terms and reference terms for Uzbek learners could be identified. The present state of the said research topic is also indicated in this chapter.
In Chapter 2, the theoretical types of address terms and reference terms are carefully examined while the concept of address terms and reference terms between the two countries namely; Korea and Uzbekistan, are figured out. The concept of address term “appellation or addressing term calling a person during conversation”, and reference term “the term referring to the subject” are defined.
In Chapter 3, the Korean and Uzbek language kinship terms of address are both covered. Kinship terms of address which are commonly used at home in Korea and Uzbekistan in several ways are comparatively analyzed. As a result, the discussion on the rationale of the both similarities and differences of the two mentioned languages which is the effect of social cultural background and structure of their respective society is relatively discussed.
In Chapter 4, the relationship of non-kinship terms of address in Korean and Uzbek language such as name address terms, title of a position address terms, and the characteristics of second person pronoun address terms are compared and described.
In Chapter 5, the educational schemes on Korean address terms and reference terms for Uzbek learners is presented based on the analysis of the above findings. In order to maximize the learning efficiency of Uzbek learners, the teaching method of Korean address terms and reference terms is proposed. Also, educational activities and learning guidance plan which are organized in a clear and comprehensible way for an effective understanding on the Korean address terms and reference terms for intermediate Uzbek learners, are also presented.
In Chapter 6, the above mentioned contents of this study are arranged and ended with a given conclusion.
