This research is for students who study in Korean Language Education. It concentrates on the reading section of Test of Proficiency in Korean, making a directory of the collocation phrase. Based how it is distributed on that directory, the more analysis will be studied.
First of all, through the outcomes of discussing in previous viewpoints of Korean language and Korean education, the refers and establishes the concept and type of the collocation phrase. The characteristics of the collocation phrase closely relate to what the element is. The benchmark of this study is based on Mun Geumhyeon’s theory; however, Mun Geumhyeon’s “verb / inertia endings / noun” is not included in this research.
Next, it discusses the relationship between the collocation phrase and reading section. Students can maintain more collocation phrases through the study of different compositions. The Test of Proficiency in Korean measures which level students can study in Korean, which plays an extremely important role in Korean education. The establishment of the directory is based on eight tests of TOPIK, the twentieth to twenty-seventh, and 1,271 collocation phrases.
The distribution of collocation phrases is based on three analysis ways―they are how the phrase is made of, the frequency of the phrases and how the frequent phrases is made of.
The first one is how the phrase is made of. According to the 20th to 27th of TOPIK advanced readings, “Noun(subject) / Verb/Adjective” is 28.4% of all the collocation phrases, and “Noun(objective) / Verb/Adjective” is 65.5% of those.
The second one is the frequent phrases. The most frequent set phases are made up to 0.54% of all the phases, and they have been tested four times of all the eight tests.
Thirdly, the element of the collocation phrase is majorly divided into noun, adverb and verb/adjective. It has been chosen ten most frequent nouns, nine most frequent adverbs and two most frequent verbs/adjectives to analyze.
Even though the study doesn’t cover the specific teaching scheme, the research applies from the 20th to 27th tests of TOPIK advanced reading sections to analyze the distribution characteristics of the collocation phrases. I hope this can become the materials for studying in collocation phrases and contribute to the education of Korean.
