The purpose of this study is to analyze how the English genitive constructions are translated into Korean. 247 genitive markers (including 74 's genitives and 173 ofgenitives) were selected from Reader's Digest (English-Korean version) Vol. 100. This study mainly focuses on two areas: translation word order and translation types in the eight genitive meanings-ⅰ)possessive genitive, ⅱ)subjective genitive, ⅲ)objective genitive, ⅳ)genitive of origin, ⅴ)descriptive genitive, ⅵ)genitive of measure, ⅶ)genitive of attribute and ⅷ)partitive genitive. To sum, 18.2% of 'ofgenitive' does not have the typical translation word order. Mainly, when a head noun 'N' indicates 'measurement' or 'figure', it translates in order of head noun-genitive noun. This study also shows that there are several types of Korean translation for genitive markers besides '-eui'(`-의). According to this study, the typical translation word order and translation types are quite different from the result. Thus, this study could help Korean learners to learn diverse usages of genitive. ,韩语论文网站,韩语论文题目 |
