This study aims to discuss tense categories in connection with a temporal pre-final ending ‘-Deo-’. When state of affairs is in extense in the march of time, the state of affairs is given intervals of time and then it can form the development of the situation. As a result, tense and aspect can be in the stream of time and also cognizance of the sate of affairs in passage of time exists along with them. Consequently the information of tense and aspect will vary depending on whether state of affairs is going or has completed and then keeps the state invariable on the basis of time of utterance at present. In addition the information of modality will also vary depending on attitudes of utterer toward the state of affairs on the basis of time of utterance at present. In other words humans don't take cognizance of tense, aspect and modality respectively. In the same way when grammatical morpheme is expressed, tense categories are taken cognizance of together. Moreover because Korean can form syntagmatic relation with grammatical morphemes <the stem of the predicate / aspect / tense / modality>, tense categories in korean can make an appearance complexly. A temporal pre-final ending ‘-Deo-’ is also no exception. |
