The subject of this study is to compare the refusal speech acts in Korean and Chinese TV series, in order to understand the features of Korean and Chinese refusal, then to draw a teaching program and model for teaching Korean language aiming at Chinese students.
To the foreign learners of Korean language, the most important aim is to communicate with the native speakers fluently in their real lives. So, in order to realize this influent communication via teaching, the teaching in aim to make flexible use of various speech acts is also necessary except the teaching of grammar. In addition, in various speech acts, the refusal speech act could induce encumbrance and obstruct for communication, because refusal means no acceptance of one suggestion or request, therefore, it should be paid special attention during the real communication between people, and it is necessary to perform the concerning education and studying. For this purpose, this study select the refusal speech act as the studying subject, and apply the analysis to the practical class teaching.
Besides, when the learners are learning the refusal speech acts in Korean language, the most important thing is to use the practical substances. So in this study we select TV series as the practical substances for analysis, and subtract the conversations from them for comparison and analysis.
The containing of each chapter is as following:
The 1stchapter: we introduce the subject, methodology and steps of this study, as well as the introduction of the concerning previous literatures.
The 2ndchapter: we introduce the theoretical background in relation with this study. Firstly, we introduce the concept and theory, and then the features of the refusal speech acts are stated. Secondly, the various strategies to realize the refusal speech acts are introduced separately.
The 3rdchapter: so as to understand the features of refusal in Korean and Chinese language, we subtract the aspects of refusal speech acts from TV series for comparison. This comparison is carried out based on three aspects, the type, the former speech acts, the various social parameters. This provides a preparation for drawing a teaching scheme in chapter 4.
The 4thchapter: based on the analysis in chapter 3, we draw a practical teaching scheme to teach Chinese learners the refusal speech acts in Korean languages. In detail, firstly we refer to the previous literatures and find out the existing problems in the present teaching materials concerning the refusal speech acts, and then based on the features of refusal in Korean and Chinese languages, we provide a useful and effective teaching scheme.
The 5thchapter: we summary the results of the present study, and point out the shortage in the study facing the Chinese learners, suggest the orientation for the teaching of speech acts, and disclose the significance to draw a teaching scheme applying for education.
