The married immigrant women in rural areas are placed in dual situations to adapt themselves to a new country of Korea and to simultaneously live as members of special social, economic and cultural environments of rural communities. However, at present the Korean cultural education is absent from any textbooks or educational programs reflecting the characteristics of migrant women and related studies. Accordingly, the necessities to study Korean education guaranteeing the cultural rights of the married immigrant women in rural areas and considering their practical necessities and the method of cultural education for cultural adaptation are raised. Consequently, this research has the purpose to discuss the public media as the linguistic and cultural education that should be accompanied with Korean education, in particular an efficient Korean educational plan utilizing the characteristics of dramas.
This research selected 3 Korean educational institutes for the married immigrant women in the rural areas of Gyeonggi-do through homogeneity verification by dividing them into an experimental group and a control group. In addition, through 6 lessons for the Korean cultural class utilizing dramas and the experiment, the impacts on Korean learning efficacy and Korean cultural academic achievement were compared and verified as 'before' and 'after'.
As a result of practical verification of the effects to the Korean cultural class utilizing dramas, the learning efficacy of the experimental group rose significantly. But, in academic achievement there was no significant difference between the groups so that it can be considered that the effects according to the differences of the Korean cultural class adaptation utilizing dramas didn't clearly show. However, it was confirmed that there was a synergistic effect in learning efficacy and the Korean cultural class method was confirmed to be a teaching method to increase confidence over language and cultural acquisition and allow motives to the learners, married immigrant women in rural areas.
