There have been many experimental researches on influences of the Korean lateralization and nasalization on the production of English which appear in /nl/ or /ln/ sequences. However, few studies have been conducted that compare the different results depending on ages and genders. This study investigated whether the Korean lateralization or nasalization in /nl/ and /ln/ sequences was appeared differently in Korean depending on speakers’ ages and genders. Next, if two Korean phonology rules were differently affected by ages and genders, pattern of those in Korean transfer the production /nl/ and /ln/ sequence in English. The participants were 20 native speakers of Korean including ten teenagers and ten forties, 5 males and 5 females each. Also, each of 30 Korean and English experiment data which were divided into /nl/ and /ln/ sequenced were employed. The result of the experiments showed that Korean learners of English mispronounced the /nl/ and /ln/ sequences in English producing them nasalized or lateralized. Specifically, when /nl/ sequences appeared in Korean compound words, participants in their teenage tended to realize lateralization much more than nasalization, while those in forties had the opposite tendency. The different patterns of lateralization and nasalization between ages were also transferred to English in similar way. In addition, in comparison between genders, nasalization was observed more frequently in the production by male participants, whereas females produced sequences more lateralizing.
