The purpose of this study is to recognize the need to conduct a systematic training and education of Korean 'dependent noun' and find out more effective teaching methods for Chinese learners.
Since Chinese do not have their own concept of dependent noun in their own native language, they tend to ignore dependent nouns as essential parts of sentence. Even those who are already considered fluent in Korean, still they find difficulty in using Korean dependent nouns. The reason for this is that Chinese language and Korean language do not have similar expressions when it comes to dependent noun, Therefore, most Chinses learners who are not familiar with the usage of dependent noun have the tendency to avoid rather than using it.
So far, studies in Korean 'dependent noun' education for foreigners are still insufficient and did not receive much attention in the area of academic research, Researches considering the factors of effective education and using constructive study with the learner's native language, are not yet in progress.
Besides, since Korean dependent noun expressions are believed to be difficult to understand further researchs are recommended. Although some related discussions have been done before, still a complete comprehension about dependent noun is hard to find in the list of materials, For these reasons, Korean language learners have a great difficult to learn exactly its correct usage.
In the , Chapter 1 discusses the objective of the study and the contents of the previous studies. Chapter 2 contains the definitions of a Korean language 'dependent noun', its characteristics and classifications. Chapter 3 describes two kinds of dependent noun classifications and subdivided categories, In addition, through a thorough analysis of the student native language and the factor considering student characteristics are identified to establish a systematic and effective teaching ways and improve education. This study presents three types of standard classifications namely the comparative analysis of Chinese language character with dependent nouns, contrastive analysis between Chinese language and Polysemy of dependent nouns, and the representation of dependent nouns without any corresponding Chinese language expressions.
Chapter 4 looks at the current situation of Korean language education about dependent nouns by analyzing the teaching materials with its existing problems and directions to present solutions and improvements are proposed. Moreover, in order to maximize learning for the development of dependent noun education, desirable textbooks and preferred materials are presented.
Finally, in order for Chinese learners to acquire proficiency and maximize learning, Chapter 5 suggests a design on Teacher systematic education and an actual teaching plan on how to teach effectively Korean dependent nouns. Also, to learn Korean dependent nouns efficiently, it is essential for Chinese learners to avoid interference of background knowledge in their native language.
