Whenever you deal with complex sentences in speeches for practice or training, you may have a hard time finding solutions on how to translate difficult lines more naturally into Korean so that readers can comprehend the sentences more easily. In order to do so, you first have to understand the content of the speech before you could begin the translation work. Only through this process will you be able to produce a high-quality translation that has better Korean expressions that enhance the accuracy of the translation.


It is thought that the obligation of translators or interpreters is not to simply comprehend the meaning of sentences but to provide an interpretation or translation with more natural and better Korean expressions, which provide a better understanding of the content of a message than a word for word translation.


To this end, I have decided to translate the speeches made by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. This dissertation helps you learn about the organization’s technical jargon and what programs the United Nations promotes. This dissertation also provides guidelines on how to translate complex speech material into Korean more easily and more naturally.

연설문을 가지고 통.번역 연습을 하다보면 압축된 문장을 어떻게 하면 자연스러운 우리말로 바꿔 청자 혹은 독자를 더 쉽게 이해시킬까? 이다. 그러기 위해서는 연설문의 내용을 이해하고 번역하는 작업이 필히 수반 돼야 한다. 이러한 작업을 통해서만 영어 텍스트를 보거나 들은 후 통역할 때 우리말다운 양질의 통역과 통역의 정확성을 높일 수 있기 때문이다.

단순히 영어지문을 이해하고 끝내는 것이 아니라 더 나아가 자연스러운 우리말로 바꿔 통.번역 서비스를 제공해야하는 것이 통.번역사의 임무이기 때문이다.


따라서 이 논문에서는 반기문 유엔 사무총장의 연설문을 번역했다. 논문에 실리는 번역물을 통해 유엔이 추진하고 있는 프로그램, 전문용어를 조사하고 한국어로 바꾸기 힘든 표현을 연구했다.
