As the number of Indonesian University students who are interested in Korean language increasing, Korean language Department is established in major Indonesia universities, that are University of Indonesia, University of Gadjah Mada, and National University.
But these developments were not accompanied with good preparation that causes some problems, such as; lack of professional Korean teachers, lack of suitable textbooks for Indonesian students, lack of dictionary, etc.
This focused on the lack of textbooks for Indonesian Students. Korean language major in Indonesia's universities are using textbook that published in Korea which made for foreigner from many different countries who reside in Korea. That is the reason why these books are not suitable and focused on Indonesian learner only. Furthermore since it is different learning Korean in Korean language environment and in non-Korean language environment, the purpose of this is to seek a way to develop a proper Korean textbook for Indonesian students who study Korean in Indonesia.
In chapter 2, analyzed the situation of Korean Language Education in Indonesia by visiting Indonesia on Augustus, 2009. After that, analyzed the Korean textbooks are used in Korean language department in Indonesia universities .
In Chapter 3, 90 people of Indonesia university students and 12 people of Korean teachers were surveyed to find out the needs of learners and teachers in order to provide a proper teaching and learning material of Korean language education in Indonesia.
Based on the result of chapter 2 and 3, in Chapter 4 suggested syllabuses, sample of the textbook, and principles for developing a proper textbook for Indonesian beginner students who study Korean language in Indonesia universities.
