Albeit grammar dictionary for Korean language learner is written for foreigner, it is hard found such a case to meet the original purpose. In case of novice of Korean language learners, they are hard not only to find entry word from the dictionary, but its definition or meaning is too difficult for foreigner to understand. To solve this problem, I came up with an idea to give an ideal type of Korean grammar learning dictionary that was designed to suggest a new paradigm shift of new grammar dictionary in both ways, macro-structure and micro-structure.
One of the most difficult problem that foreigners have when they want to Korean language is difference between Korean grammar system and that of their mother language.
Korean with agglutinative language feature has many & various usages. For this reason, Korean language learners feel difficulties, so they easily rely on another tool, such as grammar dictionary. However present grammar dictionaries is not good enough function as a learning tool to give help for foreigners.
First of all, the most urgent task to solve this problem is to let the learners use dictionary with easiness as possible as can. It seems that present dictionaries is far from foreigner's need to learn Korean, so Korean learner as a foreigner was neither to understand explanation of dictionary nor to find entry words.
Accordingly, on this I tried to give a new type of grammar dictionary satisfying an appropriate standard on which all novice Korean learners as a foreigner who is totally unfamiliar with Korean grammar can understand and practise. According to my classification examined by macro & micro structure, all the dictionaries so far are suggesting basic form of declinable word not conjugated one, and all the entry words are following Korean consonant order.
But on this study, I came up with an idea to upload conjugated form of word on dictionary directly and also to enlist entry words in reverse order, with special reference to macro-structural presentation. This is designed to improve some problems caused by only when learners can distinguish stem & termination of a word, and find a entry word with basic form of the word.
And also, I presented a micro structure of grammar dictionary, made a deeper level of interviews with learners, and on which amend some contents & items to make the learners understand and accept the given explanations.
This kind of type in grammar dictionary is really able to give big help for self-regulated learning of foreigners, from which they might enjoy Korean learning with fun. In company with it, this sort of study hopefully may give bright prospect on further research like development & compilation of Korean language grammar dictionary.
