The aim of this thesis is to define the ideal operation program and role of Korean Language Institutions affiliated with universities, and I have studied about operation program and present figure of Korean Language Institutions, recruiting oversea students and its care, and role of Korean Language Institutions and so on with various documents and surveys.
The following is present figure of Korean Language Institutions:
First, there have been only around 10 institutions until late 1990, but nowadays, almost every university is pitching in through recruiting oversea students, opening Korean Language Institutions and beginning operation.
Second, we realized that each institution has various educational programs by level or educational objective, and also they operate regular courses, sub-regular courses, teaching methods, and well-rounded educational media for step-by-step process.
Third, we understand it is very important to have quality and professional Korean Language instructors for the customers (students) satisfaction and high-qualified operators for the educational institution.
Fourth, it must have a very important recruiting plan of foreign students for its operation. It is caused by many Chinese students incoming to Korea, the Korean Wave, Foreigner Employment License System, making form a basis of policy for supporting Korean Language Education at the state level, and so on, and these grounds increase demand of Korean studying.
Fifth, many universities have established Korean Language Institutions recruiting students from diverse countries to improve its educational quality, with one financial effect. However, some of local universities devote their all energies to recruit foreign students to make up for matriculation regular number providing them full tuition waver, dormitory fee waver, and so on.
I also tried to find the role of Korean Language Institutions:
First, the Korean Language Institution has promoted the status of Korean Language in the world and it is a valuable part of the Korean Language’s globalization. Secondly, it has a strong point to make university’s financial stability. Thirdly, it is constructing the university’s image of globalization. Finally, it has an effect of advertising for the university.
It is very clear that the university should know what it has to choose and what it has to concentrate on for the strengthening of its competitive power. Also, the university has to keep its specialization in education and research, especially in the changing time of globalization.
Furthermore, the improvement of administrative service and university officials’ professional development for foreign students must be involved.
