The purpose of this study is to investigate methods of listening training for beginners to be able to recognize clearly and comprehend Korean pronunciation as listeners.
First of all, there were a few previous studies about methods of listening training for Korean pronunciation but those studies did not go into great detail about the importance of listening education.
The next part is based on analysis of eight comprehensive-skills textbooks to find out about current pronunciation education. Suggested focus on these methods of listening training for Korean pronunciation is based on the results of problems about the eight textbooks. They are ;
current methods of listening training for korean pronunciation are mostly made of consonants and vowels. But It should include individual phonemes as well as basic patterns of Korean intonation and phonological rules for beginners' listening education.
There is a need for separate listening training education for perception and distinction of sounds. For this, there is a need for the focus on effective methods of listening training used by various methods of listening. Therefore, Two courses are recommended: listening for perception and listening for comprehension, along with specific and various methods of listening training. For this, there are five suggested steps: introduction, presentation, practice, production and review as a model Korean lesson. A model listening lesson is next presented that covers intonation, distinction of vowels /ㅓ/ and /ㅗ/, and nasalization that are used in Korean education.
The aim of this study is to make suggestions about specific and various methods of listening training that have not been studied in Korean education, and used for Korean pronunciation lesson models. The lesson plan presented can be used for beginners in the Korean pronunciation class.
This study has shown methods of listening training for beginners. and I suggest that future studies should be pursued for listening training for intermediate and high level students.
