When most ers and the broadcasting systems write news, they would rather select than all events. Selected events are emphasized or de-emphasized through the specific viewpoint, value or idea, then become news with the specified ideology. Especially these news may have an lots of effect on people in closed environment like North Korea.
By the point, this research tries to analyze the system and broadcasting attitude of KBS External Broadcasting, RFA Radio Free Asia in Korean, FNK Free North Korea Radio which are broadcasting toward North Korea, based on the effect of producing the news, construction of reality through the news or Frame.
To achieve the purpose, I make the research questions.
○Question 1. What system difference is it between KBS External Broadcasting, RFA Radio Free Asia in Korean, FNK Free North Korea Radio?
○Question 2. What difference of broadcasting attitude is it between KBS External Broadcasting, RFA Radio Free Asia in Korean, FNK Free North Korea Radio?
○Question 3. What frame is used in the news of KBS External Broadcasting, RFA Radio Free Asia in Korean, FNK Free North Korea Radio?
For solving Q1, the program genre of 3 broadcasting stations were analyzed by the table of the program organization for one week. As a result, RFA Radio Free Asia in Korean, FNK Free North Korea Radio had centralized specific program genre. KBS External Broadcasting had various programs like news, education, entertainment in equal rate. Otherwise news program was 82.8% in Radio Free Asia in Korean and 58.8% in Free North Korea Radio.
For Q2, in quantitative analysis of news which were ed in 3 stations for one month from 18th, May to 17th, June, the amount, resource and source of ed news were analyzed.
In result, 3 stations had difference in news resource. 53.3% of all in KBS External Broadcasting was about South Korea and international events that weren't related to North Korea directly. However, RFA Radio Free Asia in Korean, FNK Free North Korea Radio never the news about South Korea and international events and informed the news related with North Korea like nuclear weapons problems, North Korean defectors or North Korea events.
The difference in 3 stations was proved by ANOVA analysis. In the resource of news, RFA Radio Free Asia in Korean was similar with FNK Free North Korea Radio, not KBS External Broadcasting. The meaningful rate was less than 0.01 and F was 10.237.
There was no difference between stations in the source of news. F was 1.920 and p was 0.148 in ANOVA, so 3 stations didn't have difference in resource.
For Q3, the news was divided to 6 groups by subject and analyzed. 6 Groups consisted of North and South political military affairs (1group), North nuclear / military affairs(2group), the support toward North Korea(3group), North Korea events(4group), North Korean defectors / human right(5group), International relationship(6group) and frames in each group were analyzed.
In 1 group, North and South political military affairs, 4 frames came out, 'communication between North and South Korea', 'conflict', 'the pressure toward North Korea', 'the South Korean government criticism' . In 2 group, North nuclear / military affairs, 4 frame did, 'solution prospect/effort', 'obstacle', 'pressure toward North Korea', 'the danger emphasis'. In the support toward North Korea (3 group), 5 frames, 'humanitarian support', 'the lack concern of international society', 'the irrelativeness with policy', 'the relation with policy', 'the abuse of the support enterprise', in North Korea events (4 group), 3 frames, 'policy/society anxiety', 'reformation and opening the door', 'the induction of interest', In North Korean defectors / human rights (5 group), 6 frames, 'humanitarian countermeasure', 'violation of the international law', 'demonstration of human right improvement', 'violation of human rights', 'North Korean defectors' whole life', 'the prevention effort of escaping North Korea', in International relationship (6group), 4 frames, 'the strengthening of alliance', 'the pressure toward North Korea', 'conflict', 'the economical relationship'.
As a result of ANOVA analysis with these frames, three groups, North and South political military affairs (1group), North nuclear / military affairs (2group) and North Korea events (4group) had meaningful difference statistically.
After considering all the research results, each broadcasting station has difference in the system and resource of the news and the frame organization. It means they follow different and various idea and value standard and it can affect to choose the news resource, to organize system and to construct the frame.
However, it can be a problem that the intention and direction which each broadcasting station has and follows influence broadcast listeners. According to The Study of Real Society Construction through News, broadcast listeners tend to think what they listen as truth and to apply it to real life. Especially in the case of North Korea that it has limited wicket to get information, it can happen more and have great danger, because the broadcasting stations of this research have special character as broadcasting news for propaganda.
