Due to the change of the national economic and social structure, rural residents are going through a rapid change of awareness structures. In particular, As the population of urban-to-rural migrants is on the rapid increase, the conflict between urban-to-rural migrants and rural residents comes to the fore as a new problem of rural community. In this respect, this study was conducted with its focus on the conflicts between rural residents and urban-to-rural migrants. First, in order to understand the rural residents, the characteristics of rural community and urban-to-rural migration were investigated through the previous researches on the rural community change and the urban-to-rural migration. In addition, in a comprehensive examination of the conflict theory, the characteristics of conflicts and the conflict management system between rural residents and urban-to-rural migrants were established. In this way, the conflict factors between rural residents and urban-to-rural migrants were derived. The differences of perceptions about conflict factors were identified and the differences of perceptions about conflict management were analyzed, too. On this ground, a research model was established, and field surveys were conducted, targeting the subjects of rural residents and urban-to-rural migrants. Reliability analysis and exploratory factor analysis were performed on the collected valid samples. In order to derive the research results, frequency analysis, crossover analysis, and independent sample t-test were conducted. As the research results, the differences of perceptions about conflict between rural residents and urban-to-rural migrants due to the change of rural community are as follows. First, the conflict factors were classified according to the subjects that caused the conflict. The conflict factors caused by the rural residents were classified into 'their traditional and conservative tendencies and cultural differences from the urban-to-rural migrants,' ‘their exclusive tendency,' and 'their characteristics of excessive communal living.' The conflict factors caused by the urban-to-rural migrants were classified into ‘their individual-centric tendency,’ ‘their disregard for existing rural culture,’ and ‘Lack of understanding about the characteristics of rural community.’ Second, as of the conflict factors caused by the rural residents, there were statistically significant differences in perceptions of conflict factors between rural residents and urban-to-rural migrants in terms of four conflict factors. From there, it was found that plans would be required to expand the understandings of urban-to-rural migrants about rural community culture and a foothold for their adjustment to rural culture would be needed. However, there was no statistically significant difference in the conflict factors caused by the urban-to-rural migrants. In addition, as of the perceptions about the conflict factors according to whether the conflict management education was completed or not, there was a statistically significant difference from only one factor out of those caused by the urban-to-rural migrants. In other words, it is considered that education contents of conflict management should be supplemented to make the urban-to-rural migrants recognize the conflict factors derived from this study. Third, in order to examine the perception of conflict management, three items were identified: the perception about conflict management plans depending on the subjects, perceptions of the subjects about conflict conciliation and resolution, and the perception of conflict management plan according to whether conflict management education is completed. As for conflict management methods, it was disclosed that both the rural residents and the urban-to-rural migrants prefer individual management measures. In addition, as for the subject of conflict conciliation and management, it is estimated that as both subjects are most aware of 'village leader', the subject should be centered on the village leaders for conflict management coordinator training. From the research results above, the significance of this study is as follows. First, the previous researches so far focused on the urban-to-rural migrants, but this study has the significance that the dynamic relationship between the rural residents and the urban-to-rural migrants could resolve conflict factors. Second, the present rural community has a complex combination of coexisting characteristics of traditional rural areas and changing rural areas. Therefore, there is a limit to understand the culture and attitude of the rural residents in terms of the conflict between the rural residents and the urban-to-rural migrants. However, it is meaningful that this study examined the change of rural community and established its characteristics in order to broaden the understanding of the rural residents. Third, in terms of the deduction of conflict factors, various ones, which were fragmentarily and narrowly derived, were deducted depending on conflict subjects through the previous researches. Furthermore, in order to overcome limitations of previous researches conducted in respect of the urban-to-rural migrants, it is meaningful that in-depth interviews of the rural residents were conducted and the conflict factors actually occurring in the field were derived.
