현대는 개인의 경험이 불과 몇 초 단위로 전 세계인들과 공유할 수 있게 되었고 그로 인한 간접적인 체험의 범위도 다양해지고 있다. 이러한 사회적인 변화는 새로움을 누구보다 먼저 경험... 현대는 개인의 경험이 불과 몇 초 단위로 전 세계인들과 공유할 수 있게 되었고 그로 인한 간접적인 체험의 범위도 다양해지고 있다. 이러한 사회적인 변화는 새로움을 누구보다 먼저 경험하고 공유하고자 하는 경쟁의식을 가져오기도 했다. 여기에 최근 계속되는 경기 침체로 여행을 계획하기보다는 근방의 호텔 등에서 여가를 보내는 경우가 늘고 있다. 이제 호텔은 특별한 날에만 찾던 어려운 장소가 아닌 누구에게나 손쉽게 찾을 수 있는 장소이다. 다양한 프로그램을 가진 복합문화공간인 호텔은 이제 숙박만을 위한 장소에서 벗어나 새로운 경험을 충족시키는 체험공간으로 변화되어야 한다. 지친 현대인들에게는 편안한 정원과 닮은 호텔에서 여가를 보낼 수 있는 장소가 되고 트렌드세터들에게는 새로운 경험으로 다채로운 체험을 주어 즐거움을 주는 장소가 되고자 한다. 약 2천 점에 근접하는 모네의 회화 작품 중 공간에 적용할 수 있는 특성이 보인 작품 4개(인상·해돋이, 건초더미 - 연작, 루앙대성당 – 연작, 수련 – 연작)를 선정 및 분석하였고 여기에서 보이는 빛의 효과와 색채의 특성을 토대로 프로젝트를 시작했다. 각각의 작품에서 제한된 빛, 역광의 흐름, 시간별 움직임, 반사와 투영의 특성을 도출하였다. 공용부에선 이 빛들과 자연을 바라볼 수 있게 하였고, 객실부에선 이 빛들을 직접 경험할 수 있게 적용하였다. 모네가 컨셉이 되어 대지 전체에서 모네를 간접적이자 직접 겪을 수 있도록 구성하였다. 회화에서 보이는 가장 중요한 자연의 빛, 태양광을 활용할 수 있고 수목이 조성되어 간접적으로도 녹지를 접할 수 있는 곳을 대지로 선정했다. 또한, 호텔이라는 특수한 성격에 맞춰 관광지와의 근접성과 교통지의 편리성을 고려하여 남산 북쪽의 산새 아래 위치한 충무로로 사이트를 선정했다. 모네 회화의 특성을 테마로 한 아트호텔 프로그램은 편안함을 내포한 체험공간으로서, 정원 같은 호텔에서의 안정감과 회화의 특성이 적용된 공간에서 다채로운 경험을 통해 문화생활의 가치를 높일 수 있다. 자연과 함께 전시된 모네 작품은 야외 정원에서 회화를 관람하는 것과 같은 분위기를 만들고 객실부 곳곳에 배치된 작은 정원은 산책로가 되어 뜻밖의 장소에서 편안함을 느낄 수 있다. 본 연구를 통해 예술이 접목된 호텔에서 일어나는 다양한 경험이 체험의 요소로 적합함을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 다채로운 빛과 자연의 색채가 보이는 모네 회화의 특성은 타 호텔과 다른 차별성을 가진 아트호텔이 될 것이다. 클로드 모네의 회화에서 보이는 빛과 색채 효과 연구가 또 다른 가치 창출의 의미를 가져 숙박공간으로서의 호텔이 아닌 문화를 체험할 수 있는 감성적인 체험공간이 될 수 있길 바란다.

On the other hand, the continuing economic downturn has created a new phenomenon where people spend their vacation in the nearby hotels rather than planning a vacation travel. Today, a hotel is no longer a place where people visit for special occasion. Rather, it is a place where people go routinely with ease. A hotel is a complex cultural place with diverse services. Now, a hotel should go beyond a place of accommodation to a place where people can have new and exciting experiences. For people who are tired of their works, there should be a hotel that is like a comfortable courtyard where they can rest. For trend-setters, it should be a place that offers a variety of new and exciting experiences. Out of more than 2,000 art works by Monet, four works that possessed the characteristics that can e applied to space design were selected for analysis. They were (Impression, Sunrise; Haystacks series; The Rouen Cathedral series; Water Lilies series). Then, the project proceeded using the characteristics of the light and the colors exhibited in these works. From each work, the characteristics of the controlled light, the flow of backlight, the movement across time and the reflection and projection were derived. The designed allowed the viewers to look at the light and the nature from the public hall; and directly experience the light from the room. The study used Monet himself as the main concept and allowed users to directly or indirectly experience the land from the perspective of Monet. The land was chosen so that users can use the most important light of the nature in paintings-the sunlight. Also, the land had trees in the surrounding area so that users can at indirectly access the green zone. Moreover, to accommodate the need as hotel, Chungmoo-ro site, which is located on the foothill in the north side of the Nam-sam Mountain, was chosen based on the consideration for accessibility to tourist spots and traffic. The art hotel project in this research based on use of the characteristics of Monet’s paintings succeeded in producing a virtual experience space of comfort. A visitor to the hotel can enjoy the comfortable feeling of a courtyard as well as fascinating experience of Monet’s paintings, which increases the value of their cultural experience. Monet’s paintings displayed against the landscape of the nature in the background makes the visitors feel as if they were watching Monet’s paintings in the outdoor. Also, the little gardens build in various places of the room create a stroll path where they can find an unexpected place of rest. The research concluded that various experiences the visitors had from the art hotel were appropriate element of good experiences people can enjoy. Also, the colorful and natural light, the prominent artistic characteristic of Monet’s paintings, can create a hotel that can be distinguished itself from other hotels.
