ABSTRACT Metaphorism analytics for Simulacre of Media Art -Focusing on the researcher's Artwork- Lee Lee-Nam Advisor : Prof. Park Sang-Ho, Ph.D Department of Fine Art Graduate School of Chosun University This study examines the concept behind the process of interpreting art based on metaphorism hermeneutics of simulacra in Media Art and identifies the signified(the meaning) of the author’s artworks while attempting to find objectivity in its interpretation. Firstly, the aesthetics of Media Art was explored in the theoretical context of metaphorism hermeneutics, followed by an examination of aesthetics of space-time, signs, symbols, and art interpretation, and of postmodern consumer society. The author also discusses the role of simulacra in Media Art by analyzing various theoretical concepts of simulacra employed by Plato, Deleuze, and Baudrillard, focusing on how each of these concepts should be understood in the context of this thesis. The objective of this study is achieved by examining the author’s reinterpretation of simulacra in his art works. The study draws on an eclectic range of philosophical concept from Plato’s negative view of simulacra to Debord’s Society of the Spectacle that speaks of Spectacle’s dominance over human minds. The author points out that his works pursue truth–the realm of ideas, rather than simulacra; however, when presenting his case in practice, the artist resorts to the usage of simulacra to convey his messages out of fear that his works may be compromised by commercialization as in the case of the American artist Jenny Holzer. Rooted in anti-Spectacle, the author attempts to reveal the signifié hidden in the significant; thus, by deciphering the meanings and messages in the author’s artworks, the methodological implications of simulacra can be analyzed further. In the author’s view, the source of the affirmative power of simulacra comes from the truth hidden under the mask of simulacra that even in the form of simulacra, truth continues to exist. It is interesting to note that the author’s messages convey different meanings depending on the subjectivity of the audience and their theoretical and methodological perspectives. Such observation and recognition of the importance of objectivity in extracting the signifie in artworks prompted the author to explore the nature of metaphorism hermeneutics. To help ensure fairness and validity in critiquing his own artworks and to employ the concept of metaphorism as an analytical tool for this study, the author conducted in-depth interviews with various professionals in Korea including art critics, art administrators, college professors, and media technicians. Information gathered from the interviews mainly consisted of data relating to the author’s style of creatingan East-West aesthetic fusion, his unique and universal appeal to the audience and his philosophical views. In assessing to the plausibility of applying the mechanism of dialectical metaphorism to the author’s artworks, many interviewees expressed support for the idea. Following the analysis of the interview data, the author provides explanation of his artworks using the metaphorism hermeneutics approach and interview feedbacks as reference. Based on these premises, the author attempts to deliver to the subjective mind an objective method of interpreting the philosophical and artistic vision embedded in his works, in turn charting a new horizon for an objective, rational interpretation of art. Nevertheless, the study of metaphorism hermeneutics for attaining objectivity in the analysis of current media artworks remains in complete particularly in address ingits philosophical logic. Hence, it is necessary to gain a logical understanding of the artists’ intentions and to continue analyzing the process and methodologies employed by many works of art. The significance of this study lies in it's prsentation of metaphorism hermeneutics. ,免费韩语论文,韩语论文 |
