The purpose of this thesis is to develop a scientific analysis of 'Hangul', the unique alphabet of Korea, to establish the scientific basis of Hangul writing and to secure the correlation between handwriting and personality. In the case of Hangul, it was thought that most of the spaces and slopes found are similar to the characteristics found in English, but it is discovered that there are many unique features that only Hangul writing has. Especially, in case of individual letters, the personality of handwriting from the various lengths and angles appearing in each letter was determined. It was then confirmed that the handwriting differences and personality are related to each other. In this study, various distances(lengths) and angles appearing in 14 individual letters from "가(Ga)" to "하(Ha)" written in a square box were accurately measured for digitization and analyzed to correlate with individual personality. A total of 28 items were selected using the two criteria of distance and angle for each letter for measurement. The significance of approximately 43% were identified as significant elements resulting in 12 of them. The distances and angles were measured according to the characteristics of each of the fourteen letters. As for the subunits, a standard was used: 24 ~ 30 lengths were used for each letter, and 5 ~ 9 measurement units of angle were used for each letter. In addition, it could be confirmed the difference and similarity of personality by measuring the digital method of space and connections between letters through the name written in the square box. This result shows that handwriting analysis in a similar way to handwriting analysis in English, which is the international standard, can also be applied to Korean. Especially, this study shows that there is a significant relationship with the personality in some aspects of the Korean handwriting. This is objectively proven that handwriting differs from person to person and confirmed that it is related to personality possessed by person. Also, it was confirmed that the handwriting is closely related to the personality through the correlation analysis, with the five elements of personality. This suggests that handwriting can be used as a useful tool for identifying personality and that a new personality can be developed if new handwriting can be obtained through practice and training. The results of this study are as follows; First, in the case of Hangul, it was possible to significantly interpret the difference of individual handwriting by the length and angle of individual letters. Second, it could be confirmed the correlation between handwriting and personality in detail by connecting the spaces and letters. The analysis of Korean handwriting through digital methods can clarify the relation with the personality when correlating with the analysis of each letter. Third, it could be determined the basis that scientific standards can be supplemented to the existing judgments based on appearance in handwriting analysis. The most used in handwriting analysis is the identification of the same person through handwriting. At the same time, using handwriting analysis through digital analysis can be an opportunity to improve the reliability of handwriting analysis by providing scientific analysis and statistical correspondence to facts confirmed through the conventional appearance judgment. Lastly, it could be verified the historical belief and the results of preceding studies that handwriting is confirming the tendency which is latent inside of the individual. In the situation where the computer is universalized, the meaning of the handwriting analysis and the study on the correlation with the personal characteristics are as follows: First, handwriting is not only a physical trail of writing, but also a direct connection to the inner sensibility of the writer. Second, writing, which is the basis of the handwriting, is the expression of one's character and the training tool of character education. It can be socially and personally useful for education and training methods for training children whose personality are just developing. Third, it can be the basis for new discoveries and global expansion of the world-renowned Hangul. It may also provide another scientific basis for the excellence of Hangul to be adaptable in the digital era. Finally, the development of the digital analysis technique of Hangul writing can be said to secure the applicability of scientific analysis method in handwriting analysis field. This can be used as a useful tool for solving various legal conflicts by providing criteria for objective facts beyond the scope of self - justification in handwriting analysis.
