Taking an in-depth look into contemporary culture, one may see that the values of education in modern culture has been dissipating; and the lustful and capitalistic culture, so-called ‘culture of death’ is on the rise. In particular, images presented by televisions and digital media, accessible by smartphones, are sending lives of young people and their culture into the depths of evil. Our youth today are being controlled by the mass media as it overloads them misguided sexual perceptions and materialism. However, today's Catholic Church's evangelical teaching and doctrine does not connect with today's young people with secular values. And to make matters worse, some young Catholics turn their eyes to secular fun-filled mass media rather than mundane traditional gospel teachings. For that reason, plenty of the young Catholics who give up meeting together with God as their spiritual leader and supporter end up leaving the Church. Thus, I began this research of the media's influence on the youth and several findings are as follows. First, this research defined and identified the characteristics of the media to understand the minds of the young generation and the media. The media provides immediacy and entertainment which appeals to the youth, thus making it highly to all audience. It is also noted that the media deceptively feeds the addiction of young people to lasciviousness, violence and commercialism. Furthermore, the media brings young people instant gratification as they change physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually, and spiritually. Secondly, the researcher describes the influence of the mass media on young people. Especially, with the teen idol images on TV, the media promotes misguided sexual perceptions which contradict the Catholic church teaching. The study also indicates young viewers unconsciously follow this distorted trend. Instead of using internet and smartphones for original purpose of research and beneficial information, they use them more for entertainment and socialization, which enhances conflicts among young people. Next, I took a survey on 892 young people in Jeonju diocese to find how the youth utilize the media and what they thing about it. The survey shows that they consume the media far more frequently and longer than expected, and they often use the media for socializing and pleasure rather than retrieving useful information. The researcher also includes the fact they think the media has a positive influence on them and that they consider the media as mere tools with the entertaining values. Lastly, the researcher suggests “Better Understanding the Mass Media” education as a countermeasure for the Catholic Church. When the media is utilized for education for education, the attributes for respective categories of the media should be underlined. In this study, the researcher recognizes that “Better Understanding the Mass Media” education is most effective to church leaders, parents, media users and media producers when adjusted for their individual perspectives. The study also emphasizes that there should be “Better Understanding the Mass Media” education during Sunday school, religious academia and re-education for Catholics. Also the diocese should establish an institution and develop corrective materials, and the Catholic school should conduct “Better Understanding the Mass Media” education. And then, the research discusses how Catholic Church can apply “Better Understanding the Mass Media” in theology via ecclesiological, pastoral, spiritual, and moral ways. It is the youth who dominate and most often use the mass media, a modern-day necessity. Media producers, who capitalize on the characteristics of the youth, make programs more sensual and entertaining to catch their attention. That is how the media commercialism lurking in it Therefore, the Catholic Church should inform the young public that the mass media is misleading them. In a media-dominated modern society, “Better Understanding the Mass Media” education should be offered by the Catholic Church as a new apostolic salvation approach to protect the youth and, furthermore, to reconcile the world and God. In conclusion, the Catholic Church should not hesitate to give candid and solemn advices to the world; the young people who have acknowledged the evangelical values will return to the church and transform the evil and perverted world into a pleasant one before the eyes of God. ,韩语论文题目,韩语论文范文 |
