This thesis aims to study on educational substance of‘X hada’type predicate for Korean as a foreign language. A predicate normally consists of verb, adjective, and noun-ida in Korean. Especially 'Preceding element-hada' form predicate occupies 63.6% of all verbs and adjectives. This result shows 'hada' is the most producted word in Korean. 'hada' is a kind of affix is able to make a new word as being combined with preceding element. These derivation words are changed their meaning or a part of speech, even syntactic structure. Therefore it is important to know how to make a new 'hada' form word, what kind of lexicon is possible or impossible to combine with 'hada'. Lots of Korean language learners make a mistake like 'jumu-hada(주무하다), baewo-hada(배워하다), etc.' when they speak and write. This discuss 'hada' in depth and select the function of 'hada' at first and then classify preceding elements which are possible to combine with 'hada' by morphological features. The words analysis object are the entries of the Korean standard unabridged dictionary. Through this study, I found preceding element of 'hada' is very various and has different features. This analyzed their morphological characteristics with their independence and classified them by a part of speech and a word type like native tongue, Sino-Korean and loanword.
In this study, I built the contents of what to teach to foreign students regarding the predicate containing 'X hada'. This is arranged in a standards form with the consideration of lexical education from the korean educational point of view. As a result, I categorized 'X hada' into four groups: ‘ggaeggeus-hada', 'gongbu-hada', 'joa-hada', 'eul-man-hada'.
I examined four groups of predicates 'X hada' and the grammatical elements related to these in four Korean language textbooks, then I analyzed the way to present, the word formation, what to teach and how to. Finally I discussed about limitations and possible improvements in that.
The result will be helpful for Korean language learners to define clearly 'hada' form word formation and to know how to use the 'hada' type words by understanding the syntactic rules.
