Under the exchanges between the countries which affected by the world’s internationalization, the world's international students are becoming more active which also leading the increasing of students who decides to study in another country. In particular, Korea has a lot of foreign students coming to study such as Chinese students and neighboring countries. According to the Ministry of Justice Immigration Policy Division of Statistics monthly (2015.4 issue) 61.6% of international students in Korea (55,409 people) is Chinese students. However, the lack of support services for international students have been pointed out as a reason that dropping the preference for Chinese students study in Korea. Depending on the Immigration Policy Center of Statistics monthly (2015.4 issue) statistics from 2011, the Chinese actually began to appear a tendency to decrease the number of students. Many Chinese students are experiencing a variety of difficulties and acculturation stress in the study process, studying in Korea did not make a satisfactory adjustment to life. The students’ life will vary depending on the level of adaptation study period. Standing seonja (2010) ed that short-term international students adapt to the university environment better than the long-term international students. This shows that the duration of study in Korea experience a variety of cultural issues and the students can be seen surfing with stress. Another studies according to the study period, the appeal hearing problems and problems of students showed difference. Factors affecting university life adaptation of foreign students in Korea are as follows: Demographic aspects as gender, education, economic, majors, Korean skills, etc. and psychological aspects as acculturation stress, self-efficacy, self-esteem, social support, self-identity, relationships, resilience, the ways of coping list, etc. It appeared to affect (seojiyeon, 2009; Huang Sahib, 2011; hwanghaeyeon, 2007). There is a need for a differentiation in the method for consultation. Therefore, the present study was to the difference between self-efficacy and the ways of coping list and college adjustment period, according to the study of Chinese students in Korea. In addition, by understanding the collective mentality of Chinese students in Korea through the study and to identify the ways of coping list aims to help providing effective education and counseling services for the population guidance and counseling program for group characteristics.
Based on this need and purpose of Chinese students in Korea. 300 people attending the Seoul National University materials were surveyed. The questionnaire was used to measure self-efficacy, coping measure, college life scale, the collected data were analyzed according to descriptive statistics hypothesis by utilizing SPSS 18.0. Students were divided into four groups that are based on are: Students are less than one-year residence period in Korea as group one, more than 1 year less than 2 years students are group two, more than 2 years less than 3 years as group three, the students who stained in Korea more than three years are group four. In addition, frequency analysis, One-Way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis was carried out. The summary of the main results of this study are as follows.
First of all, there was a significant difference between Chinese students in Korea in self-efficacy according to the study period, a one-year study period untested students group was higher than the Chines students in Korea studying at least three years. The longer the study period showed that self-efficacy is falling (F = 3.115, p <.05). And the ways of coping strategies with college adjustment period of the study showed no significant difference. But the average level of Chinese students in college adjustment in change scores was found again increased when more than three years getting the best high and fall. Gyeokeumyeo several cultural impact and stress while studying abroad become accustomed to when living abroad for more than three years but feel a sense of much study period maladjusted in college life can also be seen as well-adapted. The results of Chinese students in Korea in accordance with International Students studying in the multiple regression analysis conducted to test the effects of college life, self-efficacy according to the study period there was a difference in the impact on the college life. Also showed higher self-efficacy are well-college life. The study period of international students multiple regression analysis was conducted to verify the effects of college life. Problem-focused coping sub-factors of coping, social support, coping, personal and emotional coping, wishful thinking is a result of how they impact on each college life validation, international student population is one year study period is problem-centered coping untested In coping and social support had significant influence on college life. On the other hand deal with the emotional and personal wishful thinking it was that it does not significantly affect the college life. There values for the explanatory power of the regression is seen in 52.5% of the total appears to .525. Students in the class are not more than one year study period 2 years deal with the central issue had significant influence on college life. However, social support, coping, personal and emotional coping, wishful thinking was not statistically significant (p> .05). Students in the group that should 3 years study period of two years or more problem-focused coping, social support, coping, personal and emotional coping showed significant influence on college life, wishful thinking was not statistically significant (p> 05). International students studying in groups more than three years is a problem-oriented coping and social support coping, personal and emotional coping showed significant influence on college life, wishful thinking was not statistically significant (p> .05). The coping strategies according to Chinese students studying in Korea indicates that a significant impact on college life.
In summary, the results of this study shows that the self-efficacy is different depends on the period of studying abroad and there is no difference in coping strategies and college life adjustment. The higher the efficacy according to the study period using an aggressive coping, and it can be seen that the higher college life adjustment. The lower self-efficacy and the use of passive coping showed that the lower the college life adjustment. Therefore, we should understand the differences between the international student groups according to the study period, and there is a need to develop a community consultation program for the international students.
