베트남과 한국 간의 수교 이후 양국의 경제ㆍ정치ㆍ문화 교류가 급속히 확대되면서 한국어 통ㆍ번역 인재와 한국 관련 전문가 수요의 증가로 사회적으로 한국 관련 연구 인력이 많이 요구되는 상황이 되었다. 이런 사회적 요구에 따라서 베트남에서는 1993년부터 2014년까지 전공 혹은 비전공으로 한국어 교육을 실시하고 있는 21개 대학이 생겨났다.
또 많은 사람이 말하고 있는 한류 (Korean Wave, Hallyu)문화가 베트남에서 한국어를 배우는 중요한 이유가 되기도 한다. 한국 문화가 베트남에 융화되면서 위에 기술하는 양국의 외교관계를 서로 협력적인 관계로 유지시켜주고, 그와 더불어 한국어는 베트남의 외국어 시장에 안정적으로 자리 잡기 시작하였다. 그러나 생계 수단으로 한국어를 배우는 베트남 학습자에게 일정수준의 교육과정이 없다면 한국정부 및 한국기관들은 해외에서 한국 문화와 한국어를 많은 사람들에게 전파하고 발전시키는 결과를 얻지 못할 것이다. 또한 베트남에서 한국어 교육에는 한국어 기능교육 이외에 문화ㆍ경제ㆍ역사ㆍ사상 등과 같은 한국학 교육이 제대로 시행되지 못하고 있으며, 따라서 한국과 한국인, 한국문화를 이해하기 위해 언어뿐만 아니라 한국학 교육도 필요하다.
이 문제가 해결된다면 베트남에서의 한국어 교육은 성공하게 될 것이다. 또한, 이 연구를 통해 한국어 교육의 발전방향을 긍정적으로 검토하여 교수법 및 학습방법의 문제점들을 개선해 나갈 수 있다고 생각된다. 따라서 베트남에서는 현재 한국어 교육을 어떤 방향으로 발전시키고 있는지, 또 현재보다 더 높은 수준의 한국어 교육을 제공할 기반을 마련할 수 있도록, 베트남 대학교들의 한국어(학)전공의 한국어 교육과정을 살펴보고 하고자 한다.

The is analysis of Korean language education status and Koreanology in Vietnam universities. Based on boosting friendly cooperation between Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea and the Hallyu wave covering all over Asian, Korean language education in Viet Nam has constantly developed in recent years, reached a stable position and become one of the best choiced major of many students when enrolling in to the university. Up to now, Korean language education in VietNam has been divided into two main parts: Korean language major and Koreanology major education. The main purposes of this case study are learning about Korean language and Koreanology education status, analyzing that state in order to find out some issues in existence and bringing out some projects improving the quality of Korean language and Koreanology education.
In the beginning, the case study presents some social elements which might bring Korean language into Viet Nam, the development of this language that makes it become main subject in the public universities as well as private universities from original subsidiary subject. The training actuality of Korean language and Koreanology of six universities in the Northern area and fifteen universities and colleges in the Central and Southern area, in which, the case study will focus on the training actuality of ten main universities. There are Ha Noi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ha Noi University of Languages and International Studies and Ha Noi University in the North; Ho Chi Minh University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology, Hong Bang International University, Lac Hong University and Da Lat University in the South; Da Nang College of Foreign Languages and Hue College of Foreign Languages in the Central.
The analyzing part of the Korean language and Koreanology status in Viet nam has been implemented by regions that showed the university’s training trends depending on the economic and cultural development rate of each region. The training status of each university would be presented by means of the recent four years – training students, the quantity and quality of training lecturers, the curriculums of each university. Finally, the current training trends are defined by the teaching programs. After analyzing the training actuality and according to this analyzed information to seek negative issues limiting learner’s abilities, the final section states the improving methods to enhance teaching and studying Korean language and Koreanology effects in Viet nam. In addition, the definition of training status which un-appropriated to training purposes is implemented in some universities for establishing Korean language or Koreanology faculty, that affects the professional training in foreign languages.
The studying focus on the development actuality of Korean language and Koreanology education in Viet nam, as well as presents the potentials developing this major based on the summarized economic data in the recent years and the investment of Korean enterprises in Viet nam. This case study is considerably carried the high reality might support practically towards the lecturers and researchers who want to study the teaching Korean development in abroad, and enlarge the teaching Korean language methods for foreigners, especially Vietnamese.
