본고는 기존의 단어 체계로 설명할 수 없었던 단어를 파생과 합성의 체계에서 설명하고자 하는 노력의 일환으로 특이 파생법 범주를 설정하여 특이파생어에 포함되는 영접사 파생, 음운교체 파생, 역형성을 살펴보고자 하였다.
영접사 파생, 음운교체 파생, 역형성은 접사와 결합하여 의미 또는 품사가 다른 단어를 파생시키는 기존 파생법의 정의에는 미흡하지만 파생의 성격을 일부 가지고 있다. 영접사 파생은 접사의 형태는 보이지 않지만 품사가 다른 단어를 파생시킨다. 음운교체 파생은 접사는 없지만 모음 또는 자음의 교체를 통해 의미가 다른 단어를 파생시킨다. 역형성은 접사의 결합이 아닌 유추로 인한 어기의 재구조화로 새로운 어기와 접사를 생성한다. 따라서 이들을 예외적인 단어로 처리하기보다는 파생법의 하나로 다루는 것이 적합하다고 판단하여 파생법을 “하나의 어기가 결합, 비결합, 절단 등의 언어 작용을 통해 새로운 어기를 생성하는 절차”로 정의하고 특이파생법을 “일반적인 방법이 아닌 파생, 즉 일반적인 접사의 결합 이외의 방법에 의해 파생어가 형성되는 것”이라 정의하여 이들을 포함시켰다.
본론에서는 영접사 파생, 음운교체 파생, 역형성을 파생법의 하나로 볼 수 있는 이유를 구체적으로 제시하였고 자칫 문제가 될 수 있는 파생 조건, 파생 범위, 파생 방향 등을 정하였다. 또한 파생 유형을 다루면서 이들이 가진 특징을 면밀하게 보고자 하였다.

This aims to explain unusual words which the common word system has failed to elucidate by confirming "Unusual Derivation" system organized by zero-suffix derivation, phoneme replacing derivation and back-formation.
Zero-suffix derivation, phoneme replacing derivation and back-formation meet the definition of common derivation partially. Zero-suffix derivation makes a word into different word class without discoverable form. Phoneme replacing derivation generates the new meaning word original word through replacing vowels or consonants.
Restructuring of the stem by inference, Back-formation creates a new stem and affix without combination of affix. Therefore, This study regards those words as one of the derivative rather than as exceptional words. So derivation is defined at the process of creating words by languages acts; combined, uncombined, cut, etc. The unusual derivation is defined the process of creating words by other method than general languages acts.
In chapter 3,4 and 5, There are the reasons specifically presented why zero-suffix derivation, phoneme replacing derivation and back-formation are included in the derivative. And, in there, this study establish standards which might be a controversy regarding derivation's conditions, derivation's ranges, derivation's direction, and so on. Also, It closely investigates the features of derived types while dealing with them.
