As the importance of cultural education in language education has been recognized, cultural education became one of the central themes in Korean education as well. The meaning of knowing the culture is not only communication ability but also harmony ability with life style of Korea and establishment of leaner's cultural identification, especially idea culture. Idea culture is all of behavior methods and living styles appeared by mental elements such as emotion, thought and belief.
Therefore, the purpose of this study is to establish a direction of the educational contents of idea culture for helping the foreigners to understand Korean culture and to learn Korean language.
Firstly, this study examined the culture textbooks and Korean textbooks which are used by Korean language institutes and evaluate them in the point of the contents of idea culture. Secondly, this study analysed students and teachers' interests and needs in the contents of idea culture and then, selected the educational contents of idea culture.
if students comprehend the idea culture, their learning of the Korean language will be enhanced. The goal of foreign language education is to help students improve the efficiency of communicative competence and function in the target language society. In order to help the student who study Korean as a second or foreign language, the overall language-related Korea cultural elements are described such as Korean idealogical symbols such as symbolic favorites, values, institutional identity, characteristics of Korean people.
