외국어 학습에 있어서 '원활한 의사소통'이라는 목적이외에도 의미있는 의 하나는 외국어를 우리 것으로 재 창조하는 번역에 있다. 관점이 다르고 표현하는 방식이 다르고 어순 및 언어적 감각이 다른 영어를 우리 국어로 옮기는 과정은 분명한 언어의 재창조이며 그 과정에서 전문적인 기술과 노하우를 요구하게 된다. 영어를 한국어로 번역하는 일은 발군의 영어실력이외에도 뛰어난 국어실력을 갖추어야 한다. 그래서 통번역 대학원 입시시험에서 재미교포나 오랫동안 외국에서 공부하다가 국내에 들어온 영어 실력파가 합격하지 못하고 탈락하게 되는 것도 바로 이러한 이유 때문일 것이다. 영어에 대한 인식이 다르기 때문에 번역은 실제 번역하는 사람마다 차이가 있게 된다. 흔히 직역하는 사람, 의역하는 사람, 그리고 명번역을 하는 사람, 오역하는 사람 등등 다양한 번역물이 나오게 된다. 같은 번역이라도 영어를 대충 그 뜻만 우리말로 옮기거나, 또 옮긴다 해도 독자가 이해하기 어려운 영어식 표현, 즉 서툰 번역은 많은 오해를 야기하게 될 것이다.
본 연구에서는 이러한 범하기 쉬운 직역보다는 좀 더 우리말답고 맛깔스런 번역방법을 모색하고자, 품사별 짧은 문장을 취급 [직역]에서 [의역] 두 번의 예를 통한 매끈한 번역, 우리말다운 번역기법을 『영어문장 구성법』, 『English Prepositions』,『알기쉬운 우리말 분석영어』를 참조하여 논문을 전개하고자 한다.

Every day, every minute, we are faced with decisions in our lives, and every decision you make now will determine your future. No matter what you are doing now, and how old you are you can always change your future for the better. English in our daily life, and use it as much as you can.
