사회는 탈산업화시대를 거쳐 지식산업으로 변화하면서 도시 또한 새로운 사회로 변화하였다. 이러한 사회는 신도시 위주의 도시 확장으로 인해 상대적으로 낙후된 도시들이 생겨났으며 점... 사회는 탈산업화시대를 거쳐 지식산업으로 변화하면서 도시 또한 새로운 사회로 변화하였다. 이러한 사회는 신도시 위주의 도시 확장으로 인해 상대적으로 낙후된 도시들이 생겨났으며 점차 도시 슬럼화 양상을 띠게 된다. 이와 함께 낙후된 도시 곳곳에는 다양한 유휴 공간들이 생겨났다. 국가는 이러한 유휴 공간을 재생하고자 다양한 정책을 펼치고 있지만 대부분 장소의 공간적 재활용만이 되고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 장소기억을 통해 사람과 장소를 연결시켜주는 매개체로의 역할로써 장소의 의미와 상징을 부여하며 장소 정체성 형성을 위해 장소기억의 특징을 파악하고 공간 재생에서 나타나는 사회적 가치와 장소기억을 활용한 국내외 문화예술공간의 사례조사를 통해 장소 재생을 위한 장소기억 문화예술공간의 재생 특성을 분석 하고자 한다. 장소기억 문화예술공간으로의 재생 연구를 위하여 장소기억의 개념과 의미를 고찰하고 장소기억의 특징을 분석하였으며 의미적으로는 경험적, 기억적, 공공적, 공간적으로는 물리적, 사회문화적, 시간적 특성으로 장소기억을 분류하였다. 이와 함께 유휴공간 재생에 있어 문화적, 사회적, 경제적 가치를 통해 예술과 공유, 효율성 등 6가지의 키워드를 도출하여 공공적 가치로의 문화예술공간을 분석하며 장소기억의 공간 재생특성으로 구조적, 의미적 특성으로 11가지의 요소를 추출하여 장소기억을 활용한 문화예술공간으로의 재생 사례를 분석하였다. 이를 통해 장소기억을 통한 문화예술공간 재생의 다양한 가치적 방안을 파악하고자 한다. 유휴공간의 재생 가치와 장소기억의 특성 요소를 활용한 국내외 10가지 공간의 사례를 선정하여 분석한 결과 첫째, 대부분의 문화예술공간은 다양한 프로그램을 활용하여 문화향유와 문화창작을 통해 폭넓은 문화교류를 시도를 하고 있으며 구조적으로 건물의 외관과 구조물의 뼈대를 그대로 남겨둔 채 재료, 표현 등을 활용한 현대적 재해석을 통해 가시적으로 과거를 현대에 중첩시키는 장소 재생을 볼 수 있었다. 둘째, 문화교류 활성화를 위한 국가와 지역 간의 활발한 소통과 공유는 지역의 고유한 장소적 특성의 가치를 창출하며 이는 장소기억의 요소에서 도출된 특성의 방법을 통해 사람과 장소를 연결시키는 장소의 가치를 나타낸다. 본 연구에서 유휴공간을 활용한 문화예술공간의 재생 가치는 문화적, 사회적, 경제적으로 분류되었으며 이에 장소라는 가치를 대입하여 장소기억의 특성을 도출해 내었다. 장소기억의 구조적, 의미적 특성에서 도출된 형태적, 시간적, 의미적 요소들은 고유의 정체성을 가진 장소로서의 기반을 확립시키며 사람과 공간, 사람과 사람을 연결시켜주는 공유와 소통의 공공적 가치가 나타났다. 각각의 가치들의 조화는 지역재생뿐만 아니라 더 나아가 도시재생에 있어 국가적으로 더욱 가치적인 방안으로 확장될 수 있을 것이다.

This society mainly evolved in a new town generating relatively underdeveloped city and incurring slumism in the city. Along with that, a lot of idle spaces took place in underdeveloped cities. Government has a variety of policies to regenerate idle space, however, most of the space is merely being recycled. As such, this study gives meaning and symbol to place as medium that connects people with place using place memory and confirms characteristics of place memory to form place identity and analyzes characteristics of rehabilitation in culture and art space to regenerate space by reviewing cases of culture and art space with social value and place memory from home and abroad. This study reviews and analyzes concept, meaning and characteristic of place memory in order to study rehabilitation of culture and art space. Place memory was classified based on experience, memory and publicness in terms of semantics and physics, society, culture and time in terms of space. In terms of rehabilitation of idle space, this study finds six key words including art and sharing, efficiency through cultural, social and economic value and analyzes culture and art space as public value and draws 11 elements of rehabilitation in structure and semantics to analyze rehabilitation case of culture and art space using place memory. By doing so, this study confirms various rehabilitation methods of culture and art space through place memory. This study selects eight cases on space from home and abroad and makes an analysis based on expression of place memory and rehabilitation value of idle space. The result shows, first, most of the culture and art spaces are promoting broaden cultural exchange by utilizing various programs such as cultural enjoyment and cultural creation. Also this study confirms place rehabilitation where the past and present overlaps visually by having modern reinterpretation on material and expression from exterior of a building and frame structure. Second, active communication and sharing between country and region create characteristic of its own place in order to promote cultural exchanges. The value of place that connects people to place can be represented by using the method of drawing elements of place memory. This study culturally, socially, economically classifies rehabilitation value of culture and art space using idle space and finds characteristics of place memory adding the value of place. Morphological, temporal and semantic elements drawn from structural, semantic characteristics of place memory solidifies foundation of place identity and represents public value of sharing and communication that connects people to place and people to people.
