입암리 유적공원은 산업단지 조성을 위한 개발과정에서 발견되어 정비 ‧ 복원된 곳이다. 유적공원이 자리한 계룡시는 인구 4만이 조금 넘는 대한민국에서 가장 작은 시로써 다른 시군... 입암리 유적공원은 산업단지 조성을 위한 개발과정에서 발견되어 정비 ‧ 복원된 곳이다. 유적공원이 자리한 계룡시는 인구 4만이 조금 넘는 대한민국에서 가장 작은 시로써 다른 시군에 비해 보유한 문화유산이 현저히 적다. 사계 김장생의 고택과 조선 건국 초기 궁궐터를 닦았던 초석과 본 논문에서 다룬 유적공원이 전부라 할 수 있다. 입암리 유적공원은 청동기인의 생활상과 백제인의 생활상을 살펴볼 수 있는 매우 귀중한 유적이다. 이곳을 정비 ‧ 복원할 때에는 계룡시민들에게 지역문화에 대한 자긍심을 심어주고, 나아가 계룡시를 찾는 외부인들에게도 청동기시대 주거지와 백제시대 주거지를 통해 우리 역사의 한 단면을 소상하게 설명해 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대를 모았으나 시간이 갈수록 찾는 사람이 줄어들어 이제는 애물단지로 전락하고 말았다. 입암리 유적공원이 지역민들은 물론이고 계룡시를 찾는 외부인들에게도 들려보고 싶은 장소가 되기 위해서 보완하여야 할 점과 아울러 새로운 프로그램을 개발이 시급하다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 청동기시대와 백제시대의 특징을 제대로 살린 정비 ‧ 복원이 이루어져야 함을 밝히고, 지역민이 찾게 하기 위해서는 유적공원에 대한 홍보가 이뤄져야 함을 설명하였다. 일정한 교육과 홍보를 통한 유적공원의 실상을 소상히 알 수 있게 하며, 실상을 알게 되면 지역문화의 소중함과 더불어 계룡시가 갖고 있는 문화유산에 대한 애정도 커질 것이라 믿는다. 입암리 유적공원은 계룡시의 자랑거리가 될 수 있는 가치 있는 문화유산이다. 지금과 같은 방치로 더 이상 외면 받는 장소가 되어서는 안 될 것이다. 가뜩이나 문화유산이 부족한 계룡지역의 문화유산 빈곤증을 해소 하기 위해서라도 유적공원에 대한 활용에 적극적이여야 하며 본 논문의 연구에서 이를 시사하였다.
