본 연구는 한국 도깨비의 캐릭터 제작 연구로, 한국 민담속의 도깨비의 특징을 살린 도깨비 캐릭터를 제작하여 한국 전통 도깨비의 의미를 상기시킨다. 한국에서의 도깨비는 귀신과는 다른 ... 본 연구는 한국 도깨비의 캐릭터 제작 연구로, 한국 민담속의 도깨비의 특징을 살린 도깨비 캐릭터를 제작하여 한국 전통 도깨비의 의미를 상기시킨다. 한국에서의 도깨비는 귀신과는 다른 초현실적인 존재다. 사람이 죽어생기는 것이 아닌 오래되고 버려진 물건에서 생성되며, 사람들을 겁주고 벌주기보다는 경외감 있는 존재이지만 인정이 있고, 해학적인 모습을 보여주기도 한다. 도깨비는 오랫동안 구비전승을 통해 전세되어졌다. 구비문학의 특성상 구연자의 의사에 따라 이야기는 윤색되어 전해질 수밖에 없다. 그렇기에 환경과 문화가 성장하면서 도깨비의 성격이나 외형 등의 특징들도 다양하게 전해졌다. 그동안 우리는 도깨비 형상의 특징을 떠올리면 머리에 뾰족한 뿔과 우악스러운 철퇴의 모양을 한 방망이를 들고 있는 모습을 떠올리게 이러한 형상을 보면 바로 도깨비로 연관 지을 정도로 익숙하다. 하지만 우리가 익숙한 도깨비의 모습은 일제강점기 시절 일본에서 들어온 ‘오니’ 라는 존재의 모습이다. 한국 도깨비는 뿔이 없고 복장과 형상도 흡사 도깨비가 아닌 인간과 같은 형상을 하고 있다. 이러한 오해를 바로 잡고자 민담 속에 등장하는 도깨비들의 특징을 나열하고 개성을 살려 캐릭터를 제작했다. 한국을 말할 수 있는 요소들을 소재로 만들어진 캐릭터들은 한국 도깨비 컨텐츠의 개성을 살려준다. 제작된 캐릭터에 스토리를 부여하여 특성에 맞는 현대적 요소를 부여해 친근감을 주는 일러스트와 캐릭터상품을 제작했다.

It reminds us of the meaning of Korean traditional ghost as making this character which has its own features in Korean folk tales. Dokkaebi is the supernatural being unlike ghost in Korean society. They come from not man who already died but the old and abandoned objects. Dokkaebi is the existence with awe and compassion. Sometimes, it shows the humorous side rather than the fearful side. Korean Dokkaebi has been handed down by word of mouth among people for a long time. Due to oral literature, all stories cannot help being passed down as an embroidered version, depending on the intention of the person who talks. Therefore, its features such as character or appearance of "Dokkaebi" has been various as the circumstances and culture develop. When we think about features of Dokkaebi, we imagine that it has a horn on the head and scary eyes with holding an iron mace in its hand until now. Besides, we are used to coming across our minds about Dokkaebi right away when we see these kinds of shapes. I made Dokkaebi with its individuality to correct misunderstanding. The characters made with constitutes which can explain Korean culture show personality of the contents about Korean Dokkaebi.
