힙합(Hip-Hop) 음악은 90년대 황금기를 지나 2000년대부터 다양한 악기와 편곡을 선보였다. 이러한 흐름 속 에서 칸예 웨스트(Kanye West)는 인더스트리얼(Industrial)장르를 힙합 음악의 영역 안에 선... 힙합(Hip-Hop) 음악은 90년대 황금기를 지나 2000년대부터 다양한 악기와 편곡을 선보였다. 이러한 흐름 속 에서 칸예 웨스트(Kanye West)는 인더스트리얼(Industrial)장르를 힙합 음악의 영역 안에 선보이며 많은 아티스트들에게 영향을 주고 있다. 본 논문은 2013년 앨범 『이저스(Yeezus)』를 통해 인더스트리얼적 요소가 표현된 힙합 음악을 선보인 칸예 웨스트의 ‘I am a god’을 분석하고 자작곡 ‘What u got now’에 적용하여 새로운 힙합 음악 제작 기법을 연구한다. 자작곡은 ‘I am a god’의 곡 구성적 특징, 디스토션, 잡음효과와 같은 인더스트리얼 음악의 특징을 바탕으로 제작한다. 선정곡을 통해 분석된 곡 구성적 특징을 적용하고, 디스토션 효과가 특징적인 베이스 사운드를 활용한다. 또한 루프 사운드를 통한 리듬변주 효과의 역할을 함과 동시에 잡음효과로서 활용하고, 디스토션 기타와 보컬 잡음효과는 신디사이저로 제작하여 효과음으로 적용한다. 한 시대를 통해 황금기를 누리고도 현재까지 새로운 형태로 거듭나며 발전 방향을 모색하고 있는 힙합 음악의 제작 방식은 팝음악을 비롯한 여러 음악 제작 기법에 영향을 주고 있다. 앞으로도 여러 힙합 아티스트들의 음악이 더 많은 음악 제작 방식의 연구로 이어지길 기대해 본다. 주제어: 힙합, 칸예웨스트

Hip-hop music went past it’s golden era in the 1990s and has introduced various instruments and arrangements since 2000s. Along with such a trend, Kanye West introduced the industrial genre in hip-hop music and is currently inspiring many artists. This analyzes ‘I Am a God’ by Kanye West, who introduced his hip-hop music with industrial elements in his 2013 album 『Yeezus』, applies it to this author’s own song “What U Got Now”, and studies new production methods for hip-hop music. This author’s own song is produced based on the characteristics of industrial music such as the compositional features of the song ‘I Am a God’, distortion, and noise effect. The analyzed compositional features of the selected song are applied, and the bass sound is used, which is characterized by distortion effect. In addition, the loop sound is used to show the noise effect as well as the rhythm variation effect at the same time. The noise effect of distorted guitar and vocal sounds is produced by the synthesizer and used as the sound effect. The production methods of hip-hop music, which is still reinventing itself in new forms and exploring ways going forward even though it has gone through its golden era, are inspiring those of other types of music including pop music.
