이 논문의 연구목적은 우리 한국인에게 적합한 작명 방법을 제시하기 위함에 있다. 다시 말해, 한국인의 국어인 한글에 담긴 五行을 바르게 이해하여 작명할 때 적용한다면, 한국인으로서 ... 이 논문의 연구목적은 우리 한국인에게 적합한 작명 방법을 제시하기 위함에 있다. 다시 말해, 한국인의 국어인 한글에 담긴 五行을 바르게 이해하여 작명할 때 적용한다면, 한국인으로서 가진 각자의 운명적 삶이 좀 더 풍요로워 질 수 있다는 것을 본고의 출발점으로 삼고 있다. 대부분의 한국인들은 우리민족의 고유한 작명법으로 잘못 인식하여, 漢字의 획수를 세어 길흉을 판단하는 작명법에 매몰되어 있는 실정이다. 이름의 초성오행의 배열만 주장하는 작명방법은 과거 일본의 강점기시대에 우리민족의 정신말살 정책의 하나인 창씨개명을 유도하기 위해 도입된 작명방법이다. 이런 구태의연한 방법이 지금도 우리나라를 대표하는 작명처럼 여기고 있는 현실에서, 우리민족의 위대한 문화유산인 『훈민정음』(해례본)의 바른 오행분류에 의해서 주어진 운명을 바르게 이해하기를 바란다. 이러한 입장의 연장선상에서 논자는 한글子母音의 바른 배열을 근거로 하는 작명방법인 한글성명 이론을 제시하였다. 본고에서 논자는 타고난 운명을 완전히 바꿀 수은 없지만, 불리어지는 소리 기운인 이름이 주어진 운명과 같은 역할을 할 수도 있다는 입장의 견해를 피력하였는데, 이는 우리 모두가 한글의 바른 배열로 지어진 이름의 기운을 통하여 좀 더 풍요로운 삶을 영위할 수 있다는 입장의 소박한 견해이다.

The formula of judging one's fortune by counting the number of the strokes in a Chinese characters that are wrongly understood as Korean nation's authentic naming method or of arraying an initial sound of the five elements of Hangeul is a naming method introduced into Korea in order to induce Korean people to make their new Japanese names which was aimed at annihilating the Korean people’s spiritual awakening under the rule of Japanese imperialism. In reality this obsolete way of naming is still regarded as an only means of naming for Korean people. So I hope people to escape from their schemed fate by way of the right assortment of the five elements of the Hoonmin-Jungeum Haere-Bon, the great cultural heritage of Korean nation.
