빠르게 변화하는 현대 사회는 구성원들에게 효율성과 기능성, 신속함만을 요구하며 밤하늘을 올려다 볼 여유조차 허락하지 않는다. 사람들은 넘쳐나는 정보와 빠르게 변화하는 사회에 적응하기 위하여 스마트폰과 태블릿에 시선을 고정시키고 쉴 새 없이 사회의 요구에 맞춰가며 살아가고 있다. 이러한 사회분위기는 현대인이 ‘여유’를 갈망하게 되는 원인이 되었고 그 결과 힐링(Healing)문화가 대두되었다.
‘힐링’은 본래 치유의 뜻이지만 현대에 나타나는 ‘힐링 문화’는 개인 행복의 추구, 그 중에서도 특히 정신적인 부분과 마음 내면의 치유를 위한행동 혹은 그 생활 자체를 뜻한다.
이러한 ‘힐링 문화’가 대세로 떠오르면서 사람들은 다양한 문화생활과 휴식을 자신에게 선물하고자 하며 그에 상응하는 비용이나 대가를 지불한다. 하지만 모든 사람들이 ‘여유’를 추구하기 위한 시간이나 비용의 부담에서 자유롭지 않으므로 본 연구자는 모두에게 여유를 즐길 수 있는 수단으로 자연, 그 중에서도 달을 제시하고자 하였다.
달은 신비와 탐구의 대상이 된다. 지구에서 가장 가까운 천체이며, 지구 주위를 돌고 있는 자연위성일 뿐이지만 그럼에도 불구하고 다양한 의미로 여겨졌다. 사람들은 까만 밤하늘에 밝게 빛나는 달을 보며 외로움, 따스함, 아쉬움, 희망의 감정을 느끼기도 하고, 명절 중 하나인 정월대보름에는 달을 보며 염원을 빌기도 한다. 또한 보는 것 만 으로도 부족했던 인간들에 의해 정복의 대상이 되기도 하였다. 이처럼 달은 인류와 밀접한 관계로 지역과 시대에 따라 상징성이 부여되어왔다.
따라서 본 연구는 우주와 인간의 매개체인 달을 주제로 삼고 달과 인간의 여러 상징적 의미와 객관적 의미와 형태적 조형성을 재해석하고, 달이 가지고 있는 수많은 의미와 시간에 따른 형태적 모양을 표현하였다. 특히 달을 보는 방향에 따라 보여지는 모습이 다르게 표현되는 아연 결정유를 사용하는 것이 가장 효과적이었다. 또한 불규칙하고 섬세한 표현을 통하여 달의 신비로움을 강조하고자 하였으며. 달을 미적 대상으로 하여 도자 조형의 다양한 표현방법을 모색하고자 하였다.

The modern society that changes rapidly only demands efficiency, functionality, and quickness and does not allow giving a moment to even look at the night sky to the members. To adapt to the overflowing information and society that is changing quickly, people are living by matching the demands from the society, constantly fixing their gazes on the smartphones and tablets. Such societal atmosphere created a cause for modern people to seek ‘composure’ and the healing culture came on the rise as a result.
‘Healing’ has the meaning of cure in original, but the ‘healing culture’ that can be seen in modern times signifies pursuit of personal happiness, especially the curing actions or lifestyle in mental parts and inner sides of the mind.
As such ‘healing culture’ has risen as the trend, people present various cultural life and relaxation to themselves and pay for the price or the cost in correspondence. However, not all people are free from the burden of the time or cost to seek ‘composure,’ so the researcher suggests nature, especially the moon, as a way to enjoy composure for everyone. The moon becomes the subject of mystery and exploration. As the closest celestial body to the earth, it is a natural satellite that revolves around the earth but it is also associated with various significances. In a dark night sky, people feel emotions of solitude, warmth, regret, and hope from the brightly shining moon, and make a wish by watching the moon on the day of the first full moon of the lunar year, which is one of the holidays. Also, as just looking the moon was not sufficient enough, it became a subject of conquest to human. Like this, the moon has taken symbolizations based on the location and time with a close association with humankind.
Therefore, this study takes the moon, which is the medium of space and human, as the subject, reinterprets various symbolic meanings, objective definitions, and figurative formations of the moon and human, and expresses numerous meanings of the moon and morphological shape based on time. In particular, using a zinc crystalline glaze was the most effective way as it expresses differently by the viewing direction of the moon. Also, the study attempts to emphasize the mystique of the moon through irregular and detailed expressions and find various methods of expressions of ceramic sculpture with the moon as an aesthetic subject.
