봉건 사회 때 사화, 경제, 문화가 모두 고도로 발달한 중국은 한국에 큰 영향을 끼쳤다. 한국 전통문학인 한시는 무수한 중국 인물을 수용하여 그 당시 중국의 영향력을 알 수 있게 해준다. 이에 따라 중국 인물은 한국 한시에서 무시할 수 없는 존재이다.
본고는 삼국시대부터 조선 초기까지 한국의 좋은 글을 골라 엮은 문집인『동문선』을 대상으로 『동문선』 소재 한시에 나타난 중국 역사 인물의 양상에 대해 연구했다. 한국의 한시는 중국 晩唐詩風과 宋詩風, 특히 蘇軾 시의 영향 때문에 한국 한시 시작품은 辭語와 用事 등 기술이 널리 유행하여 시작품 속에 중국 역사 인물을 많이 수용했다. 그러므로 본고는 제2장에서 『동문선』 소재 한시의 중국 인물의 수용에 대해서 시대별과 신분별로 분류하여 살펴보았다. 제3장에서는 『동문선』 소재 한시의 중국 인물을 수용 양태를 분석하는 결과를 바탕으로 한국 한시에서의 중국 인물 수용의 태도를 구체적인 시 작품을 통해 살펴보았다. 인물 수용 태도는 경제적·함축적 표현, 권위의 확보, 시 완성도의 확보로 나누었다. 宋詩風에 영향을 많이 받았으므로 羅末麗初 시에서 대체로 뜻을 이루지 못한 작자는 고통스러운 감정을 나타내는 것이 대부분이었다. 고려 중기부터 송나라 정주학의 성리학을 바탕으로 형성된 宋詩風의 영향 하에서 작자 자신의 감정을 표현하는 것보다 철학 사상으로 도와 덕을 가르치는 것이 더 강조되었다. 그래서 경제적·함축적 표현에서는 주로 비극적인 효과와 풍자적인 효과를 살펴봤으며, 권위의 확보에서는 주로 성현의 언행, 군신지도, 인과 관계로 나누어 고찰했다. 아울러 시 완성도의 확보에서는 중국 인물의 수용은 내용을 충실할 뿐만 아니라 수사법 면에서는 用事를 물론이고 比喩, 對比, 借代 와 對偶 등 다양한 수사법도 사용하여 독자의 취미성과 상상력을 이끌고 시의 형식미를 나타냈다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 시 작품을 분석함으로써 『동문선』 소재 한시에서의 중국 인물 수용의 태도를 고찰했고 중국 인물의 수용의 경향, 수용의 감정, 수용의 목적과 수용의 형식, 총 네 가지 시각으로 『동문선』 소재 한시에서의 중국 인물 수용의 특징과 의미를 제시했다. 본고는 『동문선』 소재 한시의 중국 인물의 양상을 통해 한국 한시에서 작자들이 수용한 중국 인물을 대략적으로 파악할 수 있었다. 또한 구체적인 시작품을 분석함으로써 『동문선』 소재 한시에서의 중국 인물의 수용 태도를 살펴보고 중국 역사 인물 수용의 특징과 의미도 알 수 있었다.
