본 연구는 한국어 학습자들이 말하기 평가의 수행에 있어서 기초 자료가 되는 시험 입력물의 중요성에 대해 연구 목적을 두고 있다. 현재 여러 기관에서 사용하고 있는 말하기 평가는 교실에서 배운 단순한 언어적인 구조 지식을 확인하는 형태의 평가가 많이 이루어지고 있어 수험자들은 실생활과 거리감이 있는 말하기 평가를 시행하고 있다. 그렇기 때문에 수험자(학습자)들이 실생활과 친밀하고 실제적으로 사용할 수 있는 의사소통 능력까지 평가할 수 있도록 평가의 설계를 도와주는 시험 입력물의 연구가 필요하지만 아직까지 한국어교육 평가 연구에서는 시험 입력물에 관해서는 거의 다루고 있지 못하다.
시험 입력물이란 말하기나 쓰기 평가에서 그림, 도표, 음성 파일 등 수험자들에게 반응을 할 수 있게 제시되는 모든 자극물들을 말한다. 시험 입력물은 수험자들의 발화의 양과 어휘·문법의 범위 등을 다양하게 이끌어낼 수 있고, 다양한 상황과 주제를 담을 수 있어 활용하는 방법에 따라 ‘언어 지식 확인’과 ‘실제적인 과제 수행 능력’을 모두 평가를 할 수 있는 좋은 자극제이자 촉진물이 될 수 있기 때문에 중요하며, 더 나아가 한국어 말하기 평가의 전문화를 이루는 데 기여할 수도 있다.
본 연구는 연구 방법으로 문헌 연구, 실험 연구와 담화 분석을 사용하였다. 문헌 연구를 통해 외국에서 이루어지고 있는 영어, 중국어, 일본어의 말하기 평가와 한국에서의 한국어 말하기 평가의 현황과 세부 유형 및 목적을 파악하였다. 또한 한국어 말하기 평가에 사용되는 시험 입력물의 제시 방법을 시각과 청각으로 나누어 유형화하였으며, 실험 연구를 통해 시험 입력물의 제시 방법에 따라 수험자들이 어떤 양상을 보이는지 분석하고, 시험 입력물과 말하기 평가 과제 유형을 연계하는 방안을 마련하였다.
본 연구의 구성은 다음과 같다. 먼저 Ⅰ장에서는 본 연구의 필요성과 목적을 밝히고, 연구 문제를 제기하였으며 연구 방법과 절차를 기술하였다. Ⅱ장에서는 본 연구의 기초가 되는 말하기 평가와 주요 개념을 선행 연구하였으며, 외국에서 이루어지고 있는 외국어 말하기 평가의 시험 과제와 목적, 유형을 정리하고, 한국에서 이루어지고 있는 한국어 말하기 평가의 시험 과제와 유형을 정리한 후 논의하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 말하기 평가에서 시험 입력물의 중요성에 대해서 언급하며, 말하기 평가 설계를 위해 시험 입력물을 유형화하고 수험자들의 말하기 평가 수행 양상을 분석하기 위해 자료 수집 및 분석을 하였다. 또한 분석을 토대로 시험 입력물과 말하기 평가 과제의 연계 방안을 제시하였다. Ⅳ장에서는 본 연구의 의의와 한계점을 밝히고 마무리를 하였다.

This study aims at emphasizing the importance of ‘Prompt’ which becomes the basic material in executing speaking evaluations of Korean learners as research purposes. In speaking evaluations having been used at several organizations currently, speaking evaluations of examinees having sense of distances with actual life have been executed because evaluations of patterns such like confirming knowledge on simple linguistic structures having been learnt in the classroom are being fulfilled a lot. So, it is necessary to research about prompt which helps evaluation designs so that communication abilities which can be used actually and have intimacy with actual life by examinees (learners), but researches on Korean education evaluations have not almost dealt with the prompt yet.
Prompt indicates all stimulations which are suggested to enable examinees responded such as picture, table, and voice files etc in speaking and writing evaluations. Prompt is important because it could lead speaking quantity of examinees and scopes of vocabulary and grammar variously, and diversity situations and subjects can be contained, and it is not only good stimulations but also promoters which can evaluate ‘linguistic knowledge confirmation’ and ‘actual task execution abilities’ all together, and further it could contributed to specialization of Korean speaking evaluations.
Regarding research methods, this study used literature research, experimental research, and discourse analysis. Through the literature research, present situations of speaking evaluations on English, Chinese, and Japanese having been made in foreign countries together with Korean language, detailed patterns, and purposes were grasped. In addition, suggesting methods of prompt used in Korean speaking evaluations were segmented by dividing into senses of sight and hearing, and methods of linking prompt with speaking task patterns were prepared after analyzing how appearances looked from examinees according to prompt suggesting methods through the experimental research.
Research configuration is same as follows. In Chapter 1, necessity and purposes of this study were lighted up first, and research issues were suggested, and then research methods and procedures were described. In Chapter 2, an advanced research on speaking evaluations that became a bases of this research and main concepts were carried out, and discussion were made after arranging examination subjects of foreign langer speaking evaluations having been executed in foreign countries together with examination subjects of Korean speaking evaluations and patterns. In Chapter 3, prompt was segmented for speaking evaluation design while stating the importance of prompt in speaking evaluations, and did data collection and analyses to investigate execution aspects of speaking evaluations by examinees. Also, linking methods of speaking evaluation tasks with prompt were suggested based on the analytical results. In Chapter 4, this study put the final touches after illuminating research meaning and limitations.
