This study was intended to suggest an education plan for foreign Korean language
learners learning Korean history and culture at the same time by using ‘Korean great
men’. The purpose of this study was to propose an education plan to satisfy Korean
language learners by history class of Korean great men from the objective perspective.
The purpose of Korean language learning by Korean history and culture education is
to improve understandings of modern Korean society and to gentrify Korean language
communication by learning according sophistication and knowledge. Therefore systematic
learning of leveled difficulty is necessary for efficiency improvement of comprehensive
Korean culture understanding and Korean language learning.
The comprehensive aims of Korean history and culture education from this study are
understandings of Korean culture, correct understanding of Korean history, intercultural
identity establishment, and communication skill improvement. For customized education
in accordance to aims of Korean language and history learning, levels are divided into
beginner, intermediate, advanced, and master.
This study composed education contents of leveled history and culture applying
Korean great men topic to learning aims and contents. The beginner level covers
Dangun, legendary founding father of Gojoseon, which used to be Korean first nation.
The intermediate level is about Sopa Bang Jung-hwan, a children’s writer of Korean modern age. The advanced level is involved in the 19th Goguryeo King Gwanggaeto the
great, known for Korean first chronological era. The master level covers Yun Dong-joo,
Korean national poet. Lesson plans were designed applying leveled Korean language
culture education by using Korean history. In addition, the lesson plan examples were
suggested focusing on the beginner level of Dangun, legendary founding father of
Gojoseon among 4 levels.
There has been growing necessity of culture education using Korean history according
to contemporary trend of globalization, but researches on this topic are not advanced
enough yet. Therefore more in-depth studies should be needed on Korean culture and
history education plan for foreign Korean language learners and teaching materials
development.

본 연구는 외국인 한국어 학습자들에게 ‘한국 위인’을 활용하여 한국의 역사 문화와 한국어를 동시에 학습할 수 있는 교육 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 객관적 관점으로 한국 위인들의 역사적수업을 통해 한국어 학습자들이 충족하는 교육방안을 제안하는 것이 이 연구의 목표이다.
한국 역사문화 교육을 통한 한국어 학습의 목적은 현대 한국 사회의 이해를 높이고 그에 맞는 교양과 지식을 습득함으로써 한국어 의사소통을 고급화하는 것이다. 그러므로 한국 문화에 대한 전반적인 이해와 한국어 학습의 능률 향상을 위해서는 체계적인 난이도별 학습이 이뤄져야 한다.
본고의 총괄적인 한국 역사문화 교육의 목표는 한국 문화의 이해, 올바른 한국사 정립, 문화 간 정체성 확립, 의사소통 능력 향상이다. 한국어와 한국 역사를 어떤 목적으로 학습할 것인지에 따라 좀 더 세밀하게 교육하고자 난이도를 초급, 중급, 고급, 최고급 네 단계로 나누었다.
본고에서 설정한 학습 목표와 내용에 난이도별 위인을 적용하여 한국어교육에서 단계별 역사문화 교육내용을 구성하였다. 초급에 한국 최초의 국가 고조선을 세운 단군왕검, 중급에 한국 근대의 아동문학가인 소파 방정환, 고급에 한국 최초의 연호를 사용한 고구려의 제 19대왕인 광개토태왕, 최고급에 민족시인 윤동주이다. 한국어 문화 교수-학습 모형에 한국역사를 활용한 단계별 한국어 문화교육을 대입하여 교수-학습 지도안을 설계하였다. 또한 본고에서 설정한 네 단계 중 대표적으로 초급 ‘단군왕검’에 대한 내용을 중심으로 교수-학습 지도안을 구성하였다.
한국사를 활용한 문화교육은 세계화라는 시대적 흐름에 맞춰 그 필요성이 커지고 있지만 이에 대한 연구는 아직 많이 미흡한 상태이다. 따라서 외국인 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 한 한국 역사문화 교육 방안과 그 흐름에 맞는 교재 개발이 심도 있게 연구되어야 한다.
