신조어는 현대사회에서 자연스럽게 발생되어 의사소통을 하는 데 있어 편리하고도 핵심적인 내용을 전달하고 있다. 최초의 신조어가 새로운 사물이나 어떤 현상들을 표현하는 데 목적이 있었다면 현대의 신조어는 시대의 급격한 변화에 알맞은 함축적인 의미를 표현하여 의사소통에 불필요한 시간을 줄이기 위함이 크다. 따라서 한 나라의 언어를 잘 이해하려면 기존의 언어뿐만 아니라 그 나라의 사회상이나 시대상이 반영된 신조어에 대한 관심도 필요하다. 왜냐하면 이러한 신조어를 통해 그 나라의 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화, 과학, 기술 등 다양한 분야의 모습과 변화를 이해할 수 있기 때문이다.
1992년 한·중 수교 이후에 양국 간 정치, 경제, 사회 문화 분야는 많은 발전을 이룩하게 되었고 서로 큰 영향을 주고받았다. 이러한 양국 간의 빠른 발전 이후 한·중 양국에는 사회상이 반영된 신조어들이 대량으로 나타나기 시작했다. 그리고 2000년 이후 정보화 사회에 접어들면서 인터넷 사용 환경의 발달로 외국 문화의 유입이 언어에 더욱 영향을 끼치기 시작했다. 특히 2010년 이후에 스마트폰이나 태블릿PC 등 정보화 기기의 급속한 보급으로 인해 신조어가 생성되는 속도는 더욱 빨라졌다. 한·중 양국은 원래 ‘한자 문화권’에 속해 있지만 서양의 문화에도 큰 영향을 받고 있기 때문에 언어 표현이 다양해질 수밖에 없다. 그런데 한국은 중국보다 더 일찍 개방된 데다가 21세기 이후에는 다문화 가정이 급속히 늘어났기 때문에 양국 사회의 특징이 조금 다른 양상을 띠고 있어 이 신조어들은 사회의 모습을 반영한 가치 있는 자료로서 연구할 필요가 있다. 또한 이러한 신조어에 대한 연구 결과는 양국의 문화 이해에도 도움이 되어 궁극적으로 한국어와 중국어 교육 현장에서 기여하는 바가 클 것으로 보인다.
최근 한·중 양국의 학자들에 의해 한·중 신조어에 대한 비교 연구가 많아지는 추세를 보이고 있지만 대부분의 연구는 신조어의 조어법에 대해서만 집중하였고 신조어와 사회의 관계에 대해서 언급한 연구물은 드문 편이다. 그리하여 본 연구에서는 2010년 이후 생성된 한·중 신조어의 영역별 분석을 통해 한·중 양국에 나타난 신조어의 사회적 의미 특성을 밝혀보고자 하였다.

A newly coined word has developed naturally and has core meaning in modern social. Originally coined words created to describe a new things and aspect. but current modern coined words are creating to include implied meaning in short word to reduce the amount of communication time and effort. So in order to get better understanding a country or society, we need to learn not only usual terms but also learn about coined terms. because coined word often reflect its society and the phases of the times. With coined terms we could have a better understanding about that country's politic, economy, society, culture, science, technology and so on.
The treaty of amity between Korea and China in 1992, both countries have interacted and developed a lot in terms of politic, economy, society and culture. With this background we have seen many coined word which reflect both countries social change and development. futhermore since 2000, due to spread high speed internet access both countries have been affected by other foreign culture. especially after 2010, smart phone came out, smart phone and tablet PC have accelerated the speed of creation of coined words. basically both Korea and China are under chinese character culture but these days the affection of western cultures are getting bigger and faster then in the result both countries language expressions are also diverse. But there is difference in change in Korea and China. because Korea opened its market earlier than China and its society has shown many multi-cultural family from 21st century. Thus this coined word has meaning of resembling this society change. And we see that this research give us better idea about both countries' language and contribute in language education.
Recently both countries' scholar have studied a lot about coined words but in most cases studed about how words were created and no connection about coined words and relation with society. Thus in this research tried to figure about social meaning and character of coined words.
