본 연구의 목적은 중학교 2학년을 대상으로 엘리엇의 실천적 음악교육 철학을 바탕으로 한 오카리나와 우쿨렐레의 기악 합주 지도안을 연구하는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구자는 엘리엇의 실천... 본 연구의 목적은 중학교 2학년을 대상으로 엘리엇의 실천적 음악교육 철학을 바탕으로 한 오카리나와 우쿨렐레의 기악 합주 지도안을 연구하는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구자는 엘리엇의 실천적 음악교육 철학을 반영한 다양한 기악 합주 지도안들을 조사하여 기존의 연구들과는 차별성 있는 엘리엇의 5가지 음악적 지식을 기반으로 한 기악 합주 수업지도안을 연구하였다. 엘리엇의 실천적 음악교육 철학을 반영한 기존의 연구들은 대부분 리코더나 단소, 소금 등의 한 가지만으로 구성된 기악 합주의 형태이거나 악기 체험의 기회에 그친 기악 합주 지도안의 형태가 많았다. 하지만 본 연구에서는 교사와 학생들에게 악기 선택의 기회를 주고, 학생들이 배우고 싶어 하는 악기의 선호도의 결과에 따라 가락과 리듬의 학습을 동시에 만족 시킬 수 있는 오카리나와 우쿨렐레를 통한 기악 합주 지도안을 연구하였다. 연구방법으로는 엘리엇의 실천주의적 음악교육 철학을 바탕으로 하여 엘리엇이 주장하는 맥락적 이해와 음악성 발달을 위한 5가지 음악적 지식에 대하여 살펴보았다. 그리고 5가지 음악적 지식을 적용한 수업지도안을 작성하여 수업에 활용하였고, 설문지를 통해 엘리엇의 철학을 적용한 수업지도안에서 나타나는 긍정적인 면과 보완점에 대하여 분석하였다. 엘리엇의 5가지 음악적 지식을 적용한 기악합주 수업지도안에 대한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 엘리엇의 실천주의적 음악철학을 바탕으로 한 기악합주 수업을 통하여 학생들이 음악을 더욱 가깝게 느끼고 더 잘 이해할 수 있었다는 것을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 학생들은 다양한 문화와 음악과 음악작품에 대해 알 수 있게 되었으며 다문화 사회에 관심을 갖고 다양한 역사와 문화 그리고 여러 나라의 음악들을 접할 수 있었다. 둘째, 학생들은 혼자서 연주하는 독주보다 친구들과 함께 연주하는 합주활동을 선호하며 이러한 합주활동이 기악을 학습하는 학생들의 성취감과 만족감을 높여준다는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 기악수업에서 교사가 직접 연주하며 시범을 보여주고 악기를 지도하는 것이 학생들의 집중도와 흥미를 높여줄 수 있다. 셋째, 본 연구자가 작성한 엘리엇의 5가지 음악적 지식을 적용한 기악합주 수업지도안은 다양한 활동을 통해 학생들의 흥미를 높이고 음악성을 발달시킬 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구에 이어 음악교육 현장에서 조금 더 다양하고 새로운 시도를 할 수 있는 수업을 위한 연구가 계속되기를 바라며, 본 연구가 음악교사와 학생들에게 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

The purpose of this research is to find an instrumental ensemble teaching plan for eighth graders playing ocarina and ukulele, based on D. Elliott’s paraxial music education. Therefore, the researcher investigated instrumental ensemble teaching plans that applied Elliot’s praxial music education and studied differential factors of instrumental ensemble teaching plan based on Elliot’s five musical knowledges from existing studies. Researches based on D. Elliott’s praxial philosophy of music which were done in the past mostly focused on a single ensemble of Recorder, Danso or Sogeum, or an opportunity where students could shortly experience some musical instruments. However, in this research, the approach was different. Teachers and students were first given the chance to choose their own instrument. Then, according to the students’ preferences, the teaching method of ocarina and ukulele where students could learn both musical tunes and rhythm was researched. The research takes a close look on five musical knowledges for contextual understanding and musicality development argued by Elliot on the basis of the praxial music education for research method. Also, the research utilized the teaching plan applying five musical knowledges and analyzed the positive effect and enhancing points. The results of instrumental ensemble teaching plan applying Elliot’s five musical knowledges are as follows. Firstly, it was confirmed that students were able to well understand and feel more closely about the music through instrumental ensemble based on Elliot’s praxial music education. Students were able to be well informed of the various cultures, music and musical pieces. Also, they could have interest on multicultural society and experience diverse history, culture and music from many countries. Secondly, it was verified that students prefer ensembles where they play the musical instruments together with friends, than solo in which they have to practice alone. Ensembles also increased the students’ sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. In addition, students’ concentration levels and interests could be boosted when the teacher personally demonstrated the musical performance before the actual teaching. Thirdly, it was confirmed that the teaching plan utilizing Elliott’s five musical knowledges was effective in enhancing students’ interests and developing their musicality.
