현대 대중음악이 발전함에 따라 대중음악에 있어서 가사의 역할 비중이 점점 커지고 있다. 이는 음악이 인간의 감정을 표현하는 수단 중의 하나로써 음악의 가사 안에는 점점 더 다양한 표현들이 존재한다.
본 논문은 대중가요에서 경쾌한 감성 음악과 슬픈 감성 음악의 가사를 중심으로 감성 표현 비교 연구를 한다. 각각의 감성 테마에서 200곡씩 총 400곡을 선정하여 단어 추출 분석 후 스토리 분석과의 비교를 통하여 각각의 감성 표현과 감정의 흐름에 대한 공통점과 차이점을 파악한다.
본 연구를 통하여 나타난 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 경쾌한 감성 음악은 다양한 단어들의 표현들로 많은 감정 단어들이 추출된다. 이와 반면 슬픈 감성 음악은 비교적 적은 수의 감정 단어로 한정된 표현의 슬픈 감성 표현이 나타남을 알 수 있다.
둘째, 스토리의 전체적인 감정 흐름을 보면 경쾌한 감성 음악은 감정의 흐름이 한 가지로 단순한 흐름이 보이는 반면, 슬픈 감성 음악은 다양한 감정 변화의 흐름이 보인다. 이는 경쾌한 감성을 표현함에는 단순한 감정 진행이 경쾌한 감성의 표현을 극대화시키고, 슬픈 감성을 표현함에는 좀 더 변화된 감정 표현이 슬픈 감성을 극대화시키는 것을 알 수 있다.
셋째, 두 감성 모두 사랑에 관한 표현이 많이 나타났는데, 슬픈 감성 음악에서는 사랑의 후회나 아픔, 그리움을 표현하는 단어들로 전체 구성된 반면, 경쾌한 감성 음악에서는 사랑의 설렘을 표현하는 단어들과 아픔이나 그리움을 표현하는 단어들로 구성된 내용의 비율이 4:3 정도로 다양하게 표현하는 것을 발견할 수 있다. 이로써 사랑에 대한 표현들도 각각의 감성에서 차이점이 나타난다.
본 연구를 바탕으로 대중가요 작사가에게 경쾌한 감성과 슬픈 감성을 좀 더 극대화할 수 있는 표현법을 제안할 수 있다. 또한 본 연구에서도 나타난 감정 단어 분류와 스토리 분류의 분석 차이를 통하여 음악 추천 서비스는 이러한 점을 보완하여 청취자로 하여금 좀 더 정확한 감성에 맞는 음악 추천을 할 수 있다.

As popular music grows, lyrics are taking a more important part of the pop music. For the lyrics are a method to express a person's emotion, various expressions are increasingly existing inside the lyrics.
In the thesis, based on the lyrics' emotions, the study compares between a sense of cheerful and sad songs. From each of the 200 songs from the emotional theme categories, the writer selected 400 songs to analyze the extracted words. Through analyzing and comparing the stories, the study grasps the similarities and differences according to the emotional expressions and flow of emotions.
The result of the study were as follows.
First, many emotional words were extracted by various word expressions in the cheerful songs. Meanwhile, limited expressions of grief sensibilities were shown through relatively small amount of emotional words in the sorrowful songs.
Second, a look at the overall flow of the emotion in the story suggested a simple context regarding a jolly music, while variety of mood changed in a melancholic music. This meant that a simple sympathetic progression maximized a joyful emotional expression and a various change of emotion maximized the depressing sensibility in terms of expressing a cheerless emotion.
Third, both of the emotions showed many expressions regarding love. Words of regret, torment, or yearning for love were whole composed in the grieve songs. In contrast, the component ratio of words for expressing throbbing hearts and distress or yearning feelings were as much as 4:3, which indicated that various expressions were used. Therefore, each of the emotions presented a difference when expressing love.
The study is to suggest to a pop music lyricist a method to maximize the expression of cheerful and sorrowful emotions. In addition, through finding the difference in the category of emotional words and analysis of story classification, music recommendation service sites will be able to complement the insufficient factors and recommend customized emotional songs to the listeners.
