본고의 목적은 실생활의 예를 통하여 외래어와 외래어 표기법에 대한 문제점을 살펴보는 것이다.
외래어는 다른 나라에서 들어온 외국어가 자국의 언어체계 속으로 들어와 자국어처럼 쓰이는 것이다. 우리말로 동화되어 한 단어처럼 사용되고 있는 것으로 컴퓨터, 텔레비전과 같이 우리 주변에서 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있다.
점점 늘어나는 외래어를 올바르게 사용하기 위해 제정한 외래어 표기법은 1933년 조선어학회 <한글 마춤법 통일안>에서부터 시작되어 여러 차례의 개정을 거쳐 현행 외래어 표기법인 <외래어 표기법>(1986, 문교부)까지 이어져왔다.
현행 외래어 표기법인 <외래어 표기법>(1986, 문교부)에서 우리는 몇몇 문제점을 찾아 볼 수 있다. 문제점은 크게 규정상의 문제와 사용상의 문제로 나뉜다.
규정상의 문제는 제정된 지 오래되어 현실을 반영하고 있지 하고, 언중들의 언어 습관을 제대로 반영하고 있지 못하다는 것이다. 관용에 대 한 많은 허용과 부분적으로 일관적이 못한 모습 등을 지적할 수 있다. 사용상의 문제는 외래어의 오남용 문제와 일본식 발음의 외래어 사용 등을 지적 할 수 있다. 3장에서는 일상에서 쓰이는 실례를 통해 이러한 문제점들을 지적하였다.
7차 교육과정에서도 많은 외래어가 등장하는데 그 빈도는 초등학교〉중학교〉고등학교의 분포를 보이고 있다. 이러한 분포는 교육적인 측면에서 볼 때 저학년에서 외래어 교육이 중요함을 강조한다.
외래어와 외래어 표기법에 있어서 필요한 것은 언중들의 실생활을 반영할 수 있는 외래어 표기법의 제정과 우리말로 표기할 수 있는 것들에 대한 순화과정이다. 앞으로도 꾸준한 연구와 관심이 계속되어야 할 것이다.

This thesis is aimed to identify problems of loan word and loan word orthography by taking examples in our lives.
loan word are languages originate from a foreign language but used like the native language in the linguistic system of the native language. We can find them easily in our surroundings such as on the computer or TV as they are naturalized and used like Korean.
Loan word orthography was established in an effort to use increasing loan word correctly, and it was first started as <Orthography of loan word>(1986, Ministry of Culture and Education), and it is the current loan word orthography which has gone through several amendments, since it was prepared with <Korean Words Spelling Rule Unification Law> by the Chosun Korean Language Society in 1933.
We can find several problems in the orthography of borrowed words, which is the current the <Loan word orthography>(1986, Ministry of Culture and Education). Those problems can be classified by the problems with rules and regulations and problems in the use.
The problems in rules and regulations did not reflect our reality since they were adopted long time ago, and they do not reflect the language habit of people who use the same language as it is. Also, considerable allowance for tolerance and the appearance of inconsistency can be pointed out. The problems in the use may include the abuse of loan word and the use of loan word with Japanese pronunciation. In Chapter 3, these problems were pointed out through examples in our daily lives.
Even in the 7th education curriculum, there appear many loan word, and the frequency of those words are as follows in the order of elementary school > middle school > high school. Such distribution emphasizes the significance of borrowed words education in elementary school students in the lower grades.
What is important in loan word and loan word orthography, is the legislation of borrowed words that may reflect the actual life of people who use the same language as well as a process of purification for words expressed in Korean words. Even in the future, there should be continued researches and interest.
